There are several ways to get essence and all of them are very rare. It includes: battling sylesties, nurturing sylesties, doing missions, Jinxie's Jamboree, and I think some others. The most reliable way however, is to buy them from other players on the trade broker or item auctions forum. If by needing a mentor for help getting sylesties, then I think you misunderstand what a mentor is for: they don't give you things, they teach you things and answer your questions. Other: I got very stuck while in a fight that keeps killing my pets and I ran out of gold to revive them and I need to know a way to get out of it or beat them (them being the part in fungus grove where you fight Cereth and his bandits) (somehow got gold by looking at my quest thingy but still need to know how to win the fight cause I'm still having trouble with that)
