She sombered. *back then, I was a male human with self doubt and a bad past.

Why did you let me stay? Why did you like me?*

"You were kind to me, and you didn't fear me. That's a rare feat for a human." She smiles. "Not so rare for a sprite, I suppose."

She blushed. *but thats it? Kindness and lack of fear?* she asked.

"At heart, yes. Anyone can be unafraid of the unknown, but it takes a truly good person to show it kindness."

She thought about that. *still. . . That doesnt seem like it should be enough for a friendship, let alone a relationship. I. . . Thats it? Really?*

"Those simple traits are evidence of far more than you think."

*what do you mean?*

"It's a sign of a truly good person. An ordinary person would be too afraid to be kind, and even if they tried, their fear would make the kindness false." She gives her a kiss. "And you are no ordinary person."

She smiled and kissed back. *thank you. But truly good? I highly doubt I am that.*

(Add humble to the list of things she is. Granted, humble to the point of self-doubt, but humble none-the-less.)
