When you knock, the door creaks open with the force of your knocks. It seemed like this mansion had been abandoned and nobody was home - inside, you could see a long hallway that led to a grand staircase that had seen better days.
I call out "Hello? Anyone here?"

No response. You do notice an old lantern on the banister of the old staircase, perhaps you could use that to light your way.
Now that you listen more closely... Was that faint laughter of a child you could hear coming from upstairs?

I take the lantern and as quietly as possible make my way up the stairs towards the sound of the laughter

The lantern swings in your hands as you head up the stairs. On the second landing, the laughing abruptly stops, but you can make out it was from the room to your left. There were many other rooms in the hallway you were in now.

I cautiously enter the room.

As soon as you enter, the door slams shut behind you, even though there is no wind. The room is simple; a fireplace, and a small armchair beside it. On the other side of the room, there is a piano and a large desk. The entire room's perimeter is full of shelves and bookshelves.
There is no movement of air whatsoever, and you don't seem to have disturbed anything as the door called shut, but suddenly a paper airplane spiraled down from the ceiling, looped around the room lazily a couple of times, and slid to a stop in the center of the room.

I look up for any indications as to what might have thrown the plane. if i can't find anything I go to pick up the plane.
Who-? [RPG] Mystery-ish RPG based on the game Identity V by NetEase
[May seem like a horror RPG at times but this is not a horror RPG] Little disclaimer - Some characters you meet in this RPG are from the actual game Identity V, I do not own them
(Starting post)
You are a detective. Your job used to be simple and you got things done, but you seemed to have fallen on hard times, and you don't seem to have as many clients as you had before.
Things got worse, too. At random times you would black out, and when you came back, things had changed; you weren't where you were before, people weren't looking at you the same anymore. And with all that, you couldn't even remember things, and you don't know what your body was doing during the times when you blacked out. What was happening?
Either way, you were now sitting in your dark office, brooding over the papers sprawled over your desk, wondering if you should get new lights and staring at a mysterious letter that had come to your office yesterday wrapped in a nice envelope made of brown paper. With your detective skills, you determined the letter to probably be from someone with a rather high status in society, but that wasnt the thing that intrigued you the most. What intrigued you was what the letter was requesting you to do.
The author of the letters child had disappeared, and you were to investigate.
Written in nice, little, neat letters across the bottom of the letter was the address of the mansion where she was last seen. You would need to go there to start your investigation.
Beware, though, dear player. This is more than just a mystery. Nothing is as it seems.

I look around for my bag, knowing I would need to bring supplis with me. I give another quick reread of th letter trying to calculate how far the place is and where exactly it is. Once I hav everything I need I head out.

"Who are you looking for?" Jane asked curiously. "Children these days like to run off a lot, they find their way back eventually, don't they?"
Now that you think about it, the letter's author did ask you to find their child, but they never signed their name. All they did was promise a large reward and give you an address.
"I'm not sure on the child's name, that's one of the reasons I'm going to go talk to the guardians today." Clint said taking another sip of the hot chocolate. "Are their cabs that come this way?"
