You know how places with forums ten to ahve a like/dislike system?
I'm thinking that would be useful, especially in places like the sugestion box. Not everyone wants to make a post just to say "support" and in places like the writing areas of the site sometimes you're asked not to post on the thread but you still want to show support. Or in roleplays, where unless you're in the roleplay you don't really have a way to go "hey roleplay host, this is a great idea i like your idea" or someting without DMing them.
(Views dont really count for someting like this btw, since you might not like what you see inside the actual thread)
Even if it's just upvotes and doesn't count downvotes, it'd be pretty helpful. And clicking a quikck thumbsup or checkmark symbol is much easier then trying to think of something semi-unique to type when you don't really need to say many words of agreement....or you're like me and find mobile a bit clunky sometimes.
Edit: by forums i dont necesarily mean just gaming sites

Generally forums don't have like/dislike systems. If something is inappropriate there's a report button.

I have heard of a couple of forums that do this, but not sure which ones (just in a general 'forums have this' way).
I generally would prefer to NOT have this. I dislike the 'social media' aspect that many pet sites are turning to with likes and upvoting/downvoting. I feel that this could make people with certain anxieties or self esteem issues feel even worse, because now, not only are their posts being ignored (ie not commented on) but potentially have people downvoting them. Or, if there was only an 'upvote', not getting any upvotes.
Sadly, and I honestly do understand how people feel as I was the exact same way once, forums are meant more for discussion, and if you don't feel like engaging in discussion or have anything to really add to the discussion, then you don't have to post. I do understand how it is to want to say 'hey I saw this' or 'hey I agree' but not want to actually engage in discussion or not feel it adds enough to the discussion to post, but at that point, I have to remind myself that I don't have to post.
So, I have to say no support, because I don't see something like this adding enough positives to outweigh the potential negatives that it could bring.

Also, for the suggestions area itself, I know that Flight Rising is like this, but it is honestly better to discuss the discussions rather than rely on what is popular. So, having a system that counts 'support' might give the wrong idea, and the idea that gets a lot of support might not necessarily be one that Krin wants to add (such as I often see nurture specific species, which I really do want, but Krin has said that he doesn't want to add it. So having a system that simply counts support, and doesn't get into ways that might help mitigate the issues Krin has with it, doesn't actually do anything, just makes it seem like something is popular and so why isn't it implimented, when it is something that Krin has no intention of implementing, maybe never, but definitely not 'out of the box' as is.)

True true
Downvotes like i said are more optional
Im mostly suggesting this because i see stuff like piles of posts with just "support" sometimes and then they bury the actual discussions
(Thats like half the reason lmao, i can see why its not the best idea)

Yeah, I see that as well, and eventually Flight Rising made a rule that you can't just say 'support/no support' but have to basically give a reason why you feel that way.
Don't know if it would work here or not.
I am just not a fan of reddit/facebook/social medias like/upvote system because I have seen it abused, and just feel that it doesn't really add anything to the discussions.
