There's only two places of human life now. The Town, where we are born and raised. And the Asylum, where the lucky ones go. No one knows why the Asylum is called the Asylum, but its purpose remains the same. Every year, children of thirteen years old take The Test and if they pass, they live in the Asylum.
The Asylum has some dark secrets though, screams in the night, missing patients, and murders of all that reach three years, the Asylum is hiding something sinister, but no one knows...

Personality: he's optimistic and often blind to the things that are happening around him. often does whenever he is told because he is extremely trusting which often works against him
Backstory: he comes from a family of farmers, he loves the farm and taking care of the animals but when he turned 13 his parents convinced him to take the test. his other siblings hadn't passed so they were very exited when he did pass. non of them knowing the history of the asylum.

Personality: Cala is very outgoing and boisterous, but very sensitive. She is also nervous at night due to the screams.
Backstory: Cala never liked the sound of the asylum, as it would separate her from her family and friends, and when her parents pressured her into the test, she was sent and ever since has been trying to escape, but the nurses stop her. So she's making their lives a nightmare.

Im thinking from the way I wrote his backstory, that kit just got put in the asylum but Im not sure if that works with the story your writin
