SOUL OF A SYLESTI

It was a normal day. Goombas padded around, socializing with glee. Koopas went to do errands. Everyone was content and happy.
That wouldn't last for long.
A swirling vortex opened in the sky. It was like the Void, but worse. It grew faster and faster, until a ray of light burst out of it. That ray split into more and more smaller rays, the number rising exponentially. Each ray chased after everyone.
Now it was chaos. The uproar was deafening, and the cries of dying people echoed throughout. Then the event ended as quick as it began.
You woke up, and took a look around. Everything looked the same at first glance, but noone was around. That thing.. had changed the world. A noise caught your attention, as you turned toward it.
"Are you okay?"
A bear-like creature was in front of you, and it looked a lot like Kooper.
"The light has changed us all."

RULES
1, No powerplaying. If I say you have to fight, you can't successfully run away.
2. You CAN die in this game. I try not to force it on you, but it's more common if you anger someone.
3. I control the canon characters. You have to use an OC.
4. No NSFW content, and please don't have a depressing backstory.
5. Noone escaped the rays. Everyone has to be a Sylesti.
6. This is mainly based on the first three Paper Mario games, but there will be elements from Sticker Star and Color Splash.
7. DO NOT hate on Paper Mario. You will get permanently banned from this.
8. Password is Paper Shredder.

SHOP AND STARTER PACK
Mushroom: 50 coins, heals 20 health.
Super Shroom: 100 coins, heals 40 health.
Life Shroom: 250 Coins, revives 3 times before dissapearing
Bronze Hammer/Boots: Start with this.
Silver Hammer/Boots: 500 Coins, doubles your damage.
Golden Hammer/Boots: 1,000 Coins, quadruples your damage.
Ally Song: Given to you, can be upgraded here for 5,000 coins.
Level 1 can summon 2 allies, and those allies have 20 health + 10 attack.
Level 2 summons 4 allies, and they have 40 health + 20 attack.
Level 3 summons 8 allies, and they have 80 health + 40 attack. This one costs 10,000 Coins.

FORM AND PATHS
As you move around, you see 5 locations you know. To the west, you see Flower Fields, shimmering in color.
The east seems to lead to Twilight Town, which is somewhat weird.
To the south, you find Gloam Valley.
To the north is Decalburg.
If you fly up, you'll find Outer Space, Star Haven, and Black Bowser's Castle.
Which path do you choose?
Note: This choice WILL determine who you'll encounter.
