~Fanfic Character Design Contest~
Hi everyone! It's summer and I have tons of free time (not really lol) so I'm looking for OC inspirations to draw or write about. This may look like a familiar post since I'm basically reusing the thread for my last contest except with a slightly different twist :)
What should be included in your submission?
- Submissions should include an avi to represent your character and a story starring your character
- Multiple characters can be in the story portion
- The writing does not necessarily have to be backstory / description. An action scene or a scene with two people talking also works (might even be better for showing your character's unique, well, characteristics)
- You need both the avi and story to qualify for this contest.
- You can use any avi item
- Please try to make the writing portion at least 200 words but I'm not too strict about this rule. I just want to get a good feel of who your character is. There is no max length.
***The character must set in an already existing story world from the list
- Proper spelling and grammar would be nice (for readability) but I'm quite lenient
- Please set your avi to size=250.
- There is no limit to the number of submissions :)
***New rule (this is the twist): I'm looking for OC in fanfic worlds from the books I list in the second post. They must be an original character (not a character already created by the original author) unless the author only mentioned the character in passing. In that case, you can write about the character as long as you maintain the characteristics set down by the original author. OCs can be related to the real characters (family, friends), they can interact with real characters, and can be involved in events described by the original author as long as you keep all the facts accurate (though you can provide your character's unique interpretation or explanation for an event)
Prizes:
I'm thinking of offering prizes to the top 30% of the applications so if 10 people particiapte, 3 will get prizes, etc.
The prize will most likely be gold but the amount will be determined by my financial circumstance in 2 weeks and the number of prizes that I will be giving out. I'm thinking 50k - 150k would be the range.
I'm still working this out so no guarantees right now.
Timeline:
Starts: Tues, July 16
Ends: Tues, July 31
Prizes Distributed by: Fri, Aug 2
*At least, this is what I'm aiming for. There may be extensions if 2 wks to too short but I'd like it to end before I need to start worrying about school again

The avi design and story are given equal weight when I'm judging the entries.
Note that by entering my contest, you give me permission to use your design and story or tweak it to serve my purposes even if it's not chosen.

Since I am already familiar with these stories, you do not need to redescribe the entire world / magic system / characters. That being said, a little bit of intro would be nice since I haven't read some of these in a while. Also, if you are using an obscure event or character, descriptions would be quite helpful.
Other Notes:
For some, I noted a particular time frame within the world (first series ect) due to me not getting that far in the story yet so please be careful of spoilers.

Also, I have a couple ideas for future contests and I would like some opinions (which you would like to see happen, how to host them, which one next, ect):
1. Fanfic avi design and story for an already existing character. This could include backstories for characters, stories of their adventures after the intended story arc is over, stories of what happens during a time frame where the author skipped over / moved the focus of the story to a different set of characters.
2. Avi design contest: pure design, maybe given some themes or stories to go off of
3. Story writing contest: pure writing with themes, prompts, or an avi to go off of (might be paired with option 2)
4. Art contest: draw a character based on an avi design, description, or both
I'm open to other suggestions as well :)
That being said, I start school again in mid Aug and will be touring colleges the week before school starts so I don't know how many of these I can make happen...

(Pinging myself to remember, also I might use a few from the previous contest but add some new details since a few of the ideas sound similar to some of these books. For example, the one about the silent island or the one about the half Roman half Greek demigod. Is that okay with you?)

Ember is...sorta a halfblood.She's a animated clay vessel who was gifted to a man before Hestia dissapeared.She did have to deal will all the problems of a normal halfblood.But she dosn't bleed,instead she cracks.She still needs time to heal tho.She is also fireproof for a period of time before she starts to crack and all.She wanders into Camp Halfblood one day and suprises Chiron and the other campers,since she isn't halfblood or mortal.She has a imperial gold blade that is a rosy gold color.

Shatter is albino rainwing who has a few color changing scales on her.She is one of the dragons of prophecy,more specifically the "Scales of the Rain with the ability to became Nonexistant".She has the ablity to become virtually Nonexistant...you can't see her,you can't see her shadow...but you can hear her she's still there.She can do it for certain periods of time,but she can do it almost forever in the sun.
