Cursed Ones
A child for each month of the year was chosen to bear a single curse by the goddess Astories. There are twelve villages, and each child was born into one. The cursed children were either treated as outcasts or royalty, depending on the village they were born into. Six girls, six boys, and they were destined to rule over this kingdom on the edge of ruin. There are twelve scared treasures hidden throughout the vast, dangerous terrains that thrive in the kingdom, and to unlock the castle that has been locked by evil magical barriers, they need them all. They also need them to ultimately defeat the tyrant holding the castle captive, Sarieas. Sarieas has ruled over the kingdom for over 100 years, due to him draining power from the castle to keep himself from aging. If the twelve cannot get to him in time to defeat him, the kingdom will drain of it's power and be lost forever to monsters and evil beings. Now child, who may you be?
-Months and Their Curses-
January- Curse of Ashes
Anything this child cherishes or loves will be turned to ash if touched by her hands. Gloves will not protect the items from this curse either.
February- Curse of Insomnia
This child will never experience sleep or rest, and is always tired.
March- Curse of Stone
This child turns into stone after sundown, wherever they may be, and will no longer become stone at sunrise.
April- Curse of Obedience
This child will do whatever is asked of them, unless it involves ending their own life.
May- Curse of Lying
This child will never be able to tell the truth when asked a question.
June- Curse of Dreams/Nightmares
When this child dreams, or rather, has nightmares, they come to life in the outside world. The object or thing disappears when the child is woken up.
July- Curse of Nature
Animals will always attack this child on sight and try to end their life.
August- Curse of Gravity
This child's gravity reverses every time they sleep.
September- Curse of Silence
This child can only communicate vocally if their name is said.
October- Curse of Darkness-
This child is blind in the light, and can only see when it's pitch black.
November- Curse of Noise
This child will always hear a buzzing noise that drowns out any other sound around them.
December- Curse of Truth
This child can only tell the truth when asked a question.

November- Female
December- Male
Okay! So in this story, the deal is the twelve kids are gonna meet up in the "center" village where they'll be sent into the "dark forest" to find and retrieve all their sacred-treasure-weapon things. There are various monsters and evil beings in the forest that are a danger! After they find all their weapons, they basically need to storm the castle and break through the barrier to defeat the tyrant currently ruling the kingdom. Any questions just ask me! (Because this suddenly popped in my head and I get excited to I might forget some super important stuffs XD)

Artemis is typically cranky and very similar to a person who is sleep deprived, except he's like that All. The Time. He's sarcastic and wily, hardly taking things seriously unless he himself deems it to be serious. Artemis is sluggish almost all the time, and his tone is always sleepy. He's highly irritable and short tempered, but it's hard for him to actually react. His movements are always slowed.

Backstory:
Artemis was treated not very kindly in his village, constantly being beaten up by the other children because it was hard for him to react to them. He would get tainted, and he always took the bait since his thoughts and processing skills were always irrational due to his lack of sleep. His parents didn't keep him either, handing him off to the village as a problem for them to take care of. Everyone calls him a lazy bum and a useless child. He hated that, and he still hates everyone for it.
Strengths:
Artemis is surprisingly observant, and he's strong when he does react.
Weaknesses:
He's sluggish, and his reaction time is slow.
Often irrational
Fears:
Artemis actually fears sleeping, as he's never experienced it.
Artemis is fearful of being hurt by other people, despite him not showing it.
Other:
Artemis is a shorter male, standing at 5'6

Iris is typically even tempered, but if you say something that she doesn't like she will get angry easily. She is almost always never loud, even her steps and actions seem quiet. She uses a wide variety of hand motions to express herself when she can't speak. Her curse also prohibits her from writing her own name, so she has to point to her eye and hope people say "Iris" so she can talk to them. When she does speak, she has a lot to say.

Backstory:
Iris's village treated her indifferent most of the time, and she was, for the most part, left alone. Although as a child people always like to "speak for her" and tease her about not being able to speak unless her name was spoken. At one point a group of girls convinced everyone to never say her name again.
Strengths:
Stealthy, and Iris is very smart. She's able to listen closely and react quickly
Weaknesses:
Not being able to speak for herself
Fears:
People "talking for her", as in them saying she wants something when she doesn't.

Iris likes dogs and flowers, and books
