Choosing character names isn't usually fun if you don't have one in mind, so I decided to help out a little :3

I have a foolproof plan for this kind of stuff- I smash my face into the keyboard. It works quite well. That generator looks really nice, though! It makes for a nice alternative.

I just smashed my face into the keyboard. I failed.

This is how i named my characters:



1. I wanted four sibs to represnet 4 elemetns. I also had an alphabet thing going on. And I needed exotic names. So meet Altado, Minatti, Nicote, and Zenota.

2. I also had my own personal OCs. Orkhanna/Catherine/Orchid/Orca (she has a lot of names, but is all me....Catherine is my author fakename), Owen/Hayden/Harrison, and John/Jon.

3. Then my OCs modeled after my friends. Lysilla, C.J., Titan, Aurora, Richerd, Emily, and Donnella (I don't ever use the last 5 since they never developed enough)

4. Then came Zena's BFF, Luna Lilybud, modeled after Fluttershy/Luna Lovergood. or at least tried. Now she's changed personalites.

5. Started writing a book. Meet Ken, Kari (I forgot the full names already lol), and Callen. Callen was supposed to be nice, now he's jsut cucumbers.

6. Added Michael for antagonist reasons.

7. Added Arceaus and Zircon because you can't have 14 underage kids runnign around.

8. Added Newtmore, he's Nicote's twin (and sometimes triplets with Nanita, who I added for giddy girl moments)

9. Added Jade and Jasper, Zircon's grands. The Lilybuds' cousins. Jade then became Jazz.


I just choose whatever name pops first in my head now.....It's works quite well, actually.

(Also, I invented all of these guys at night. In bed. Please don't ask what I dream about, it's very weird.)

It actually does not hurt if you do it correctly! Unfortunately it tends to not work on tablets so I cannot demonstrate. The names do generally end up really nice- I think my last three were Ithyur, Olkaji, and Eradik.

All of my characters end up with odd, exotic names for some reason.

Hmm, yes, 14 unsupervised children running around may be a bad idea.

Especially wiht some of their personalities....Mina is the kind of girl who picks fights with everyone wituot trying, Zena is almost as abd, and the triplets....Well if yu've ever been in a rp with them you'll figure out quickly they don't exactly get along very well.

Yeah....I'm thinkign maybe I shouldn't havve just based OCs off a book I half wrote. it wasn't a great book either....TOo late now ;D

Having fun is the reason to have character, is it not? So I would say that they are fulfilling their purpose! Hooray!

I don't really roleplay on here, but I do have my own characters, and I like to name them based on their personality. However, I do it in a lowkey fashion.

For example, I had a character who was blind. I went looking up names and it turns out the name "Cecilio" (if I remember correctly) actually means something along the lines of "Blind man."

I have another character who is a shaman named Shia, as the name essentially means "Gift." Combined with the last name I gave him in my own made up language his name meant "Gift of the spirits."

I have a website bookmarked that lets you look up names by their definition, and it is for that specific purpose. Just ping me if you want it, I'm on mobile rn <3

THat' where Ken and Kari came from but I lost their details already. (sigh)


(I've started creating characters usuing a calculator and predetermined numbers....Going great! I now added Tracey the fake human (mermaidgirl)
