Hello! Thanks for clicking. Calling all artists, I would love to get some art of my cat Gizmo who is going through a lot at the moment.
Meet Gizmo, my 3 year old domestic shorthair.
Full story will be in the next post, but put simply. Gizmo flung himself down a 15 foot drop and broke his left hind leg, and then broke the pins from surgery keeping it in place, and at this point we are left with amputation.
I would love some art of my baby! I'll pay for anything, name the price and within reason and I'm sold. I'll probably print any art out and put them on his quarantine crate where he'll be living for awhile.
Thanks for reading. Full story will be in the next post, pictures of him in the second, and a third for art made.

Here is the full story:
Monday night at around 8:30 pm, we heard a thump up in the loft. (Fyi, we live in a three story rental, the top floor is a loft bedroom open to the rest of the house and family room) Thinking it was nothing, we went back to what we were doing. I went upstairs to check after a little bit and noticed nothing amiss, and put my headphones on. Next thing I know my brother has coming running upstairs shouting "Gizmo's hurt!"
Turns out, he flung himself off the loft balcony and onto my mom's lap, for seemingly no reason, right in front of me and I didnt notice. He hopped down from my mom's lap and limped away down the hall, and my mom noticed he was carrying his left hind leg. She got him up on a bed to get him more comfortable and we gently tested his range of motion. Sick to our stomachs, we called the emergency vet, and took the hour drive, at 10pm, through the ice and the snow. Luckily we arrived safely.
The emergency vet took X-rays, put it into a cast to keep it protected for the time being, drugged him up, saying he would need surgery asap, and that we should search for a place in the morning and that he had a surprisingly clean fracture in his left hind leg.
We took him home, the vet said he shouldnt wake up for another three hours, yet he woke up after half an hour and started yowling and rolling around, aggressively biting at his new cast. Even when we got home and got him on a bed and in a dark room, he still wouldnt relax and yowled all through the night. Despite my mom's best efforts, he rolled himself off the bed several times and one time even pulled himself down two flights of stairs. The drugs weren't helping, we werent sure why.
The following day, yesterday, we took Gizmo to surgery where they performed an external pin surgery to keep the bone in place while it's healing. Vet said it was a super successful surgery, even though they ran into a few snags, and left him in a crate overnight.
This morning we get a call on our way to school. Gizmo broke the pins keeping the external fix in place, completely undoing all the progress they did yesterday. Vet said that this has never happened before, especially not within 12 hours of the surgery taking place, and especially not by a cat. He had no idea why Gizmo did that. A few theories is nerve damage or maybe the foot is dead at this point, and it was weird to Gizmo to deal with.
We had two choices: amputation and an internal plate over the injury. But theres nothing that says Giz wouldnt mess up the internal plate too. The vet keeps describing it as a fixable fracture, and yet an unwilling, horrible patient. There is no risk of complication with amputation, while any number of things could happen with the plate. Vet's done a thousand of these surgeries, and this has never happened before. Amputation mean's it's over. There's nothing else that could go wrong with that leg. There's nothing more gizmo can do to ruin his life and try to suicide away.
So with a heavy heart, we went with amputation. This will have a quicker physical recovery time, and will stop him from hurting himself worse.
Edit with current info: Gizmo came out of amputation being super weird. He was acting blind and peeing himself and rolling around like something was attacking him. We left him at the vet's office overnight since it would be safer for him to do his roll around panic thing with a metal, smooth flooring than in the wire cage we set up.
This morning we got a call from the vets office, and finally got some good news! Gizmo is acting coherent, no longer panicking. He's chill, laid back, enjoying neck scratches by the vet techs. We're taking him home today! I'll post pictures, given they dont look grotesque (I havent seen it yet myself, so)
Next post will be pictures of him

I have a cat with an amputation. I'm really sorry to hear this has happened to you.
I can't do art, but I guess I can give reassurance that your cat will be fine. Mines as cheeky as ever, still hops over walls to go steal food from two doors down and even hauls himself up trees. Although they might need a non-lick cone, I can assure that your cat won't be unable to do anything unless they're really lazy.

Thank you for your kind words! I really do think Gizzy will do best with this in comparison to the struggle with surgery and keeping him from messing things up.

He's such a pretty cat....I'll try
We got a puppy for christmas from a shelter and he name's Zara(Means princess). We took her for her first check up and the doctor immediately said she had a disloacated hip, something we weren't told when we got her.Despite this she seems fine and acts like a normal big puppy. They took a X-ray to make sure and sure enough yep,and we found out that her pelvis had been broken and healed. So we assumed she got hot by a car pretty young(Since she's less than half a year old) and it just healed over and no one noticed. She thinks it's normal. The vet who nutered her didn't bother to tell anyone! But shams still sweet and sometimes stubborn but i love her so i know what your going thru. The uncertainty of the fitire...i also went thru with Bhrams my bull-mastiff who after 4 months of him not wanting to eat and being sick we found he had liver cancer.
My fingers are with you that all goes well

Thank you both! I would love it if you guys could draw something up for him.
@Limor: I'm running kinda low on funds at the moment and want to still be able to pay for everyone, so is the lower end of 300k okay?
@Dragongem23: Thank you for your story! Its reassuring to hear success stories, and yeah, it's horrible to not know what's going on or how to help.
Gizmo is coming home today, I'm both excited and terrified. The reality of him losing a leg hasn't quite hit me yet, yknow? xD But I hear he's acting more like himself which is a super good sign.
