So I recently bought a Puffadore and it says *This Pet Can Re-Generate Colors (EC, GC3)*. Right above
that is a re-generator button. I have clicked the button to see what happens, which takes me to the generator, but I don't want to go any further then that if it accidentally messes with my pet.
I'm pretty sure it will just make another puffadore if I have the right essence, but I just want to be sure.

That re-generator allows you to change any specified colors or traits. All it does is allow you to change those particular colors on the existing puffadore. You don't have to, but the option's open.

I'd suggest looking at the Guide to Regeneration.
Post 5 ("Example of Regen Process; Before, During, & After") shows an example of actual regeneration.
