Hey! So if you're reading this, this first post is just a jumble of information on the game this is based off of.

So, Legacy is based off of a mob in Niche - A Genetics Survival Game called a ramfox, spawning in the snowy areas.

(<== Foxram)

I highly recommend this game, not only for the gameplay but also for the massive and amazing community. If you buy it on steam, note that there are plenty of roleplays you can join surrounding this game, each one unique in its own way. A few of these roleplays I would recommend are:

Makamaki

The Depths

Keranimi

And a lot more. There are story platforms too!

Niche Fanfictions and Stories

*Niche Story Creator Platform* - I originally posted Legacy here, so go check that old one out if you would like!

SO, basically what I'm trying to tell you is that the fanbase around this game is amazing, and I am glad to be apart of it and share this experimental story with you.

These first few chapters are going to come out quickly, as they have already been written. Chapters after chapter 3 are going to be a while. If you would like to be notified each time a new chapter comes out, just ping me! Let's get onto the story now, shall we?

Prolouge

The mother's heartbeat flooded into her ears as she ran carrying her only pup in her mouth. Just this morning, her litter was of four, but when the beasts came... She blinked hard to hold back tears. She lifted her nose to the cold air, taking a deep breath. Her pounding run continued, but slowed when a recognizable, but unfamiliar scent wafted towards her.

A pack! Relief quickly flooded her. As fast as she could she let go of her pup leaving him in the snow. Quickly she turned back and ran alongside her trail of pawprints until she was out of
his sight. I can't let those creatures find him... I hope this pack does, however.

<~~>

Almared by the sudden cold, the pup started calling for its mother. He found himself in a small hole of snow. Surely she would come back, she always did! His weight pulled him down into the snow like quicksand. He frantically frailed his legs, trying to get up, but his efforts were fruitless. He started to call for her, with short, quick barks, feeling the flood of worry and stress overcome him. He heard winds howl as he struggled to get out. He paused, realizing that he was getting nowhere. Soon he was shaking of more things other than the cold and wet snow, and he slowly cried himself to sleep.

He awoke as he heard the crunch of snow. Grumbling could be heard behind him. Had he angered his mother? That was the least thing he had wanted to do. Tears poured from his eyes as he realized his mistake. He barked with alarm an face appeared above him, one of which he didnt recognize. Yelping, he attempted to get away, but instead sending himself deeper into the hole. He felt teeth gently grab him and pull him out. He yelped once again and tried to get out of their gentle, but iron-tight grasp, as he searched for his mother through the howling winds filled with snow. However she was long gone, and the traces of her footprints covered...

(Yeah, these are all going to be pretty short. I'm not the best writer ':/)

Chapter 1

The chase was on. The foxram's paws pounded into the snow as he ran alongside Redfang, pursuing the bearenya. It was young, barely an adult, so it wouldn't be able to put up much of a fight.

He grunted as he pushed himself towards it with a burst of energy, turning his head inward and batting into it. The bearenya stumbled for a few seconds, stunned by the sudden impact. Soon it tripped on its own paws and tumbled into the snow. Without a moment of hesitation, Redfang leaped into the air and sunk his teeth into its neck. He held it there until it stopped struggling as its life was slowly drained from it. The young foxram's legs quivered under him as he fell to take a long needed break.

"I feel you, kid," Redfang said, padding over. "I feel you. Let's take a break before we bring it back to the pack."

"That... was a tough one." The younger ram replied, out of breath.

As the warrior and Redfang dragged the large kill towards the center of the densite, the Frostrunner Pack started to stir, smelling the fresh meat. A pup bounded towards the bearenya and tried his hardest to push to help them, extremely excited for the large kill. Soon it was in the spot in which it the scent filled the entire site, letting the entire pack know that a meal had arrived.

Redfang sat down, the snow crunching beneath him. "We'll dine a feast tonight, all thanks to you, kid." The younger foxram caught Redfang glancing at the small pile of rabbits which wouldve been gone by morning, but everyone would have still been hungry. "I bet you'll receive your name soon. Maybe tonight..." He commented.

"You think so?"

"Yeah, kid, I sure do. How longs it been? Three years? Gods, we haven't had a prey this big taken down in three years." Redfang muttered the last bit to himself.

The large pack gathered around the meal, many of the pups staring in awe. Such a meal had not yet come in their lifetime, it was such a delicacy.

Soon, the four Elders emerged, eyes weary, but with a glint of happiness. The pack quieted, but whispers still went around. Alas, silence fell as the alpha, Blueclaw, emerged with his mate.

He was named after the birds that circled the sky, their feathers almost hiding them. They swept down and preyed on the smaller animals, so quick they can't see it coming. A fitting name, the young fox thought. Blueclaw's mate, Avalanche, was the strongest female in the pack, almost more intimidating than Blueclaw himself!

The silence of the pack frightened him. He remembered this silence in the judging of a large meal, especially when it was close to one of the hunters naming. But now it was him there, him who was on the hunt, him to be truly judged. Although it was only one minute, it felt like hours until the oldest Elder, Redspike, spoke.

"It is pure."

Relief flooded him. Those words were what he needed. The hunt was officially successful. But no Elder gave the permission for the pack to eat. The tension hung over his head again. Then, clearing the fog in his mind, Blueclaw spoke.

"This meal was retrieved by our newest hunter-age unnamed and Redfang. It is the period that his naming will occur. We feel depending on the way this gift was retrieved we believe that he may receive his name. We ask Redfang for how it was retrieved."

"Of course, sir." Redfang replied quickly. "We spotted it drinking from the river, and took action. We circled to the other side to force it closer to camp. It bolted fast after the pounce. We pursued it, hot on its tail for a long time, and I doubted that we would be able to catch it. I almost called others gift when he rammed into with a burst of energy. It became stunned it and lost its footing for a long enough time for me to make a throat kill. It was all him, sir."

"Thank you for the information," Redspike said. Her voice was old and raspy, one of someone who had experienced thousands of snowfalls. "The pack may eat. We shall discuss the naming of the young ram who accompanied Redfang in the retrieval of this gift."

The pack quietly thanked their ancestors for sending the pack the gift of the food, and for the receivers that brought to their home. Soon flesh was ripped, and the pack dined.

"Thank you for the consideration of my naming, ma'am." the young foxram said as he passed Redspike. The committee of Elders and the Alphas sat off to the side, talking low. He tore off a piece of fur and putting it to his side. He looked at the fresh meat, exposed and easy to damage. He felt that if he stared long enough, he would see himself. He closed his eyes and cleared his mind, leaning in for a bite.

(For some reason when I post, apostrophes and quotation marks disappear. Sorry if it's confusing is you read these before I edit it. :///)
