Fire, fire everywhere. Have to get out, that's the only way to survive to get out and get to saftey. Along the ships wall were the numerous lifepods, though many were already gone or were being filled. Smoke hung heavy in the air as the Aurora tipped sharply to the right, sending everyone around him toppling forward, into the wall. There was no time to grab anything other than the wet suit you had been issued, though that was a mandatory item to have on you at all times. Dazed still the man pushed himself up, a hand on the now bleeding spot on his forehead. The door of the life pod hissed open before he climbed in and locking the door behind him. Stumbling some he managed to find his way to the seat before him and pull the safety latch down over his head. With a sharp jerk and another hiss the pod shot out of the landing bay before rocketing towards the planet below. He wouldn't see any of it though, the gash on his head rendering him unconscious soon after his departure. To think there were people in there that wouldn't get out, that would die with the ship, it was sad. No don't think about it, all there was now was the thought of rescue, survivoring even. The pod shook about, rattling its lifeless passenger about. Maybe others will have made it, hopefully there was a soft landing ahead of them. The rattling got more violent the longer the ride got, the blast of the ships engines blowing didn't help any. There was so much shaking, it was a wonder anyone survived at all ! The impact, God the impact was enough to kill. The pod like many others hit the water below harshly, bouncing a few feet before coming to rest finally as the mother ship plunged into the water just a few hundred meters away. Then all was quiet.

He woke many hours later with a start as the pod began to fill with smoke. Coughing he lifted his head, peeling the blood off the safety rail and making the spot on his head bleed again. The smoke burned, and made each breath agony. Shaking a bit the man pushed the rail up and was dumped out onto the floor. Coughing and groaning he pulled himself forward towards the ladder. Wincing he pulled himself up, throwing the hatch door open, releasing the smoke and letting in the light. It did nothing for the pain in husband head but just the first salty breath of fresh air seemed to clear his mind some. The sun was unusually bright and big in the sky, clearly not like the sun of earth, yet it felt nice and warm on the skin. After months in space it was a well needed exposure. Once his eyes adjusted he could see the all around him were lifepods, some with other survivors no doubt, yet most peculiar of all was the fact that there was water everywhere the eye could see. In fact it was as if they were in the middle of the ocean. What is this place? Stumbling a bit the man crouched, suddenly feeling dizzy. There was no doubt that he had a concussion, though right now that was the least of his worries. "H-hello?!" He called only to find his voice was extremely hoarse and his throats felt as if it was on fire. The shouting only made it worse, and the coughing fit after words didn't help either. He needed some water though that could wait. "Is anyone there?!" He shouted again not caring about his throats for a moment.

Erin dashed toward the lifepods, hurtling into the first lifepod she found. Thirteen, wonderful. The safety latch lowered over her head, and she slammed the eject button as soon as she was able, quietly cursing the whole way out. Another explosion was visible through the window in the upper hatch, and she felt something slam into the side of her head, knocking her out for the rest of the ride.

When she awoke, the safety latch was the only thing keeping her from falling onto the roof. "Come on, Alterra!" Erin yelled, undoing the latch and hitting the floor of the upside-down pod. Staggering upright, she continued shouting, punching the wall in anger. "Can't you do anything right?"

After wearing her voice out, the mechanic sat back against the central ladder and grumbled, having found the fire extinguisher that took her out earlier. A sudden idea struck her, and she climbed up the ladder to open the "bottom" hatch. Pulling herself out of the lifepod, Erin surveyed the area, looking for other survivors. Most of what she could see was ocean. Pure, uncaring ocean. A couple of lifepods - right-side-up, she noted grumpily - dotted the sea near her, a couple with moving dots on their tops. Knowing her voice was dead, she raised an arm and waved vigorously, doubting that anyone would take notice.

Hato ran and ran from the biology department and into the life pod area. The first on he see is Life Pod 8, With no hesitation in mind he jumps into it, as the fire comes. Pop goes the life pod and splash into the water. Blackness came next, When he work up he notice smoke piling up in the life pod and opens the top hatch. Feeling his throat dried he tries to speak but only a harsh squeak comes out. He begins to look around the area, Ocean and more pure ocean in all direction with a couple of life pods floating near by. Hato raise his arm and tries to signal any of the survivors in the life pods.

As he heard the answer he looked to his right. Thank god! "Stay there! I'll swim over to you." He said looking down at the water a moment. It looked deep enough yet pretty swallow to be an ocean. Taking a breath he jumped off, a hand pinching his nose to keep water out. The salty water stung his eyes though it was nothing like it stung his wound. Wincing a bit he swam forward towards the other pods, keeping above the water as best he could. Once was the pod with the woman that had called out 'hello' he climbed up to join her on the pod. "I'm glad to see I'm not alone. Are you alright Mark?" He asked looking up at her from where he sat holding a hand over his wound. As the doctor of the ship he knew most of the people of aboard, save for those that just arrived.

"It's a bit late for that I think." The man said looking out at the other life pods and waving to the people that were climbing out of them. "Looks like some of the others made it as well..." he sighed after a moment and stood. "We should probably swim over to them."

"It's the shallows, I doubt there is anything extremely dangerous here." He said diving in again, this time opening his eyes under the water. Everything was slightly blurry, though he did managed to make out a lump of rocks or something close to the bottom of the water. Intriguing, though he left them be as he followed after the woman.
