Please only post stuff relating to do with the attention disorder ADD or ADHD
Thanks!
I hate it so much
I was diagnosed when I was only 5, but, for whatever reason, my mother assumed her 5 year old daughter (who, keep in mind, has ADD) would remember from the doctors appointment from 9 years ago, when I wasn't paying attention. I found out like last month or something
But unless I take my meds, I'll be incredibly spacey all day, it feels like I'm not actually there, just watching life through my own eyes instead of really living. I always knew there was something wrong with me, and after finding a book on a bookshelf in my house's office, I found a book called "having a child with ADHD/ADD" or whatever (don't quote me on that I don't think that's what its actually called) and a week later, I confronted my mom about it and she's like "I thought you knew?" But anyways, I hate having ADD, especially because I can always tell if people are talking to me like there's something seriously wrong with my head or I'm a child

The doctor said I have ADHD, which is like what your saying about ADD (Don't quote me y'all), except I have the spacey, empty, lights-are-on-but-nobody's-home thing and the attention disorder. I absolutely hate it b/c I can't focus when I'm working, etc. and- get this- I space out at random until I either "wake up" or someone jolts me out of it.

ADD is some sort of subcategory of ADHD I'm pretty sure, so I'm fine with it being classified as similar. I totally feel pretty much exactly as you said, either completely zoned out or I have to constantly move, I can't sit still or my mind will slip away, even if the moving is just random wiggling, I h a v e to keep moving

I know how you guys feel.
Its like no I have to move. Tap my heel on the floor, Swing my legs when Im in a chair, Tap my nails on the desk, Play around with my pencil, Chew gum, Hum completely random songs, Draw stuff on my homework, Write Music... Its just I have to do something or I end up in wonderand. I have driven several teachers nuts because I can't stay still let alone focus on what the leacher is.

I know how this feels. I take meds for it, and it's helped a lot.
Sadly, I was lucky and found the compatible medications the first time but others do not have that luck. I know some people have worse side effects than others.
May I also recommend fidgets? I use a lot, such as knitting, doodling, or moving a bracelet. It helps to listen and it has improved my grades

I have ADD. I find that staying away from certain foods and sleeping with a mask on really helps. I don't take medicine, but that spacey feeling is what I get if I eat something I have decided to stay away from. I don't have too much energy, but I often fidget. I get lost in thought a lot, and get really easily distracted. School takes forever to finish...

While I don't have ADD or ADHD or anything in that area (though I do understand the medication thing for other issues), I absolutely HATED seeing my best friend go through that as she tried multiple medications and combinations of meds over a two year period until she was able to find something that both helped and didn't have super bad side effects (she was hospitalized a couple of times due to some pretty bad reactions to the meds). I could sympathize because I've had to go through adjustments to meds and have had similar bad reactions many times, but it just broke my heart seeing her feel so defeated because it took her so long to get something that actually helped.

even though i don't have ADD or ADHD, i usually can't sit still, when i do sit still i get lost in thought, i usually think up stories when i'm supposed to be working, when i see a teacher i look like i'm working, for me, school takes so long, except when i'm not doing work, its like time speeds up and when i'm working, time slows down, life is tiring.

ADD and ADHD I bet would both suck. For two weeks maybe now I haven't had my medicine for my ADHD. I am usually really unresponsive at times and just drifty during school. It's horrible.... Had it for most of my life and it can get difficult. I try so hard to pay attention to class but sometimes it doesn't work. I wish I could do better and focus more......
ADHD makes it worse because I can't focus as well as very hyper at times or..... I'm just gonna be really tired. Like today I'm just so out of it and tired....... I'm hoping to get some more medicine soon but have to get in with a doctor.
