It's not long before your guide points out the gates to the great city Elzinbar, the capital city of Alanthia, you look up at the great gate it blocks out the sun which makes the gold on the gates glitter like a thousand small suns. The gold sets off the midnight blue of the tapestries hanging from its great towers.
The city has a lot more water than you expected there are many canals filled with Crystal clear water unlike most places outside the capitol city- which have dirty water that smells of sewage and death. But with no other source of water, it is what is commonly used to wash clothes food and to bathe. The capitol city is all glitter and glamour compared to most other places. You follow your guide threw the streets of the city until you reach what is obviously the King's castle. The guards nod to you as you walk by.
Your escorted into a huge throne room. This is where your story begins.

Quinn pulled her hood farther down her face as she passed the guards. They eyed the cloaked girl with slight suspicion. She surveyed the regal looking room.
She had entered a large domed area, with high arched windows pouring sunlight into the room. The bright light blinded her vision momentarily, causing her to blink several times. Looking around, Quinntalia could see that several large tapestries and paintings adorned the walls. They were the most majestic and elegant things Quinn had ever seen, and the pure beauty of the artwork could even put the best artists in the elven cities to shame. They were scenes of nature, war, fantasy creatures, and much more. Gems of every name and color decorated the golden walls, stretching from the high and towering ceiling, down to the soft and deep rose red carpet.
Sitting in the center was a throne- it was made of gold, embedded with jewels of every name and color. Now upon it sat the man everyone knew as the King.
He was tall, with rich red robes and a golden crown. His olive skin matched with his long brown beard and mustache, and he held a sword at his side. There were about fifty other recruits in the room. He eyed each of them for a few seconds- she ducked a bit, although her height was already less than most her age.

Sylver entered the King's chamber, her Green cape of her cloak flowing behind her. Sylver didn't dare look or marvel at the room around her, for the simple sake of seeming refined and professional. Her scaled sister was currently coiled around her arm, Ambrosia's head was poking out from behind Sylver's shoulder.

Quinn was standing next to a girl with a snake winding up her arm. The girl was beautiful- but most elves were. She knew the girl was an elf, and an upperclass one at that, her posture straight, her eyes fixed on the King.
She turned away, trying not to get the girl's attention. Quinn would easily be recognized by someone like her. Purple eyes and blonde hair were her family trademark. She had changed her blonde hair to a brown, but her eyes... they would be easy to recognize.
Quinn watched as the King explained that they would need many warriors to defeat the enemy kingdom, Rithiel, who had waged war not too long ago.
She snuck another glance at the girl. Are there any others who could be in the 'high class elf' category? Hopefully they haven't seen the paper with my reward...

The throne room was probably the most grand place that I had ever had the pleasure of entering. Much in contrast to the home of my childhood, paintings of various figures from history adorned the walls, and each immaculately-kept inch of the structure was encrusted with various treasures that winked under the light.
I was rather tense, being the poorest-looking out of the crowd. My notched armour was dull and grey, lacking the spectacular sheen of the silver and gold that everyone else seemed to have, and my weapon was more akin to a regular kitchen knife than the splendid array of swords and shields that many seemed to be holding. There were a few who were more noticeably less well-dressed than others, but none that seemed to be at my level.
My ears twitched as the King spoke of the duty that we were to carry out. The prospect of war both excited and frightened me - I had seen very little of a full-scale war, but the inter-raider battles had given me a fairly good indication of what was to come. Despite the dangers, I had decided to enrol. Besides, this is just leverage for what I need to do. Once my training is complete, I have a task that I have already sworn by.
Cupped in my hand was my one item of worth - a necklace, laced with a few gems. They were most likely fake, as their appearance seemed quite off - but nevertheless, it was the sentimental value that I was more concerned with. I tucked it back into the hidden pocket underneath my breastplate, breathing in slowly to stop myself from coughing. I cannot show illness, not on my first day. Not when I am so close to the path that I need to take in life.
A hooded figure caught my eye. Daring not to move my head, my pupils flickered to the corners to look at her. She appeared to be hunching, as if not to draw attention to herself, but her posture only made her stand out more against the crowds. I thought I caught a glimpse of two long ears as I directed my attention back at the King. Another elf, maybe one of my own standing. Or... perhaps not. Perhaps she is just pretending. Nevertheless, I let out a sigh and took my mind off of it, my focus needing to be placed on the briefing for what we were to do in the coming times.

Quinn's ears twitched as she heard a sound that seemed like a muffled a sigh. A cough? Or a stifled yawn, perhaps?
She slowly turned to her right, looking past the shoulders of a half-orc to see a male figure. The noise had been coming from there. She eyed his dull armor and long brown hair, then his long pointed ears. Another elf. He seems to have been the one to cough.
She found that he had been eyeing her himself- out of the corners of his eyes, and quickly drew back into her black cloak.

Sylver and Ambrosia awaited directions from the king, staring straight at him, not letting her focus or concentration break to look away and seem less powerful or dignified.

The King swept the crowd once more with his eyes as he declared, "General Ailith shall lead you to the barracks. Genders will not be separated, as not will age. You shall all begin mandatory training in the morning at the break of dawn." He sniffed with contempt. "You are dismissed- and remember, anyone who fools off will be removed from their position. After training, General Ailith will pick his second-in-commands."
The soldier beside the King walked forward. He had skin the color of coffee beans, and his head was bald. A goatee slightly protruded from his chin.
The man strode through the crowd, and stopped at the doors where they had entered. He raised an eyebrow. "Follow me, recruits."
Quinn, who was close to the back where he was, followed after him along with he others. As she had observed earlier, there were about fifty in the group- but there would probably be more after.
