A few months ago, ny'venes got revamped and my max stat Nether Frost Ny'vene project came to a halt because they were affected. I wasn't sure how to proceed with my project at the time, as I had no design for the new ny'venes, so I put it on hold.
 
With about 4 generations left on this project, I would like to continue breeding until I hit max stats. However, I'd like the designers of Sylestia to help me this winter to create a new design for my Nether Frost project!
Contest Details
There will be two categories of contests that you may enter:
Regenerate, or Redesign
Regenerate follows typical regen convention of previous species: you may pick any of the allowed genes/mutations, but you cannot change the colors, EXCEPT for G2 and/or M2 (which are pale light green and magenta respectively; you may select another color that is best fitting to the design)
Redesign is a category where you may regenerate both allowed genes/mutations AND colors. You may change as many colors as you wish, provided you stay within the "theme" of Nether Frost.
For reference, here is a list of all genes and mutations allowed (and here's a list for G3) for Ny'vene regen. Please make sure that your design uses only the genes and mutations in black, not red or gray.
You may enter both and and you can enter an unlimited amount of designs in both.
CONTEST 1 - Regenerate - Contest Rules
1. Use the Generator to create a design of the Nether Frost Ny'vene template that uses the allowed genes and mutations for regeneration. No carried traits, and you may have up to 6 visible traits (any or all genes, and any or all mutations).
2. Using genes/mutations not allowed (the gray or red genes/mutations in the list) will result in your submission not counting.
3. The ONLY colors you can change are G2 and/or M2, the runes/body accents and the head accessory mutation. You can change them to whatever color you think would best replace the color yet still match the Nether Frost theme.
4. Changing G2 and/or M2's color is optional. You may choose to work with them or leave them as is.
5. You may have less than 6 visible traits, if you believe that it is beneficial to your design.
CONTEST 2 - Redesign - Contest Rules
1. Use the Generator to make a new design with new colors, or redesign the existing colors, of the Nether Frost Ny'vene, using the allowed genes and mutations for regeneration. No carried traits, and you may have up to 6 visible traits (any or all genes, and any or all mutations).
2. Using genes/mutations not allowed (the gray or red genes/mutations in the list) will result in your submission not counting.
3. Please stick to the Nether Frost theme, which I associate to a combination of darkness, ice, coldness, and abysmal blizzards (though you are free to put your own spin on what you think symbolizes "nether frost". Please embody this in your colors, moreso than the selected genes/mutation.
4. You do not have to change all the colors of the existing Nether Frost Template. However, you must make a design that is noticably different. (If I feel that your design isn't noticeably different from the original colors, I will let you know in advance, if possible.)
5. You may have less than 6 visible traits, if you believe that it is beneficial to your design.
TIPS - Advice for Designing
1. I prefer colors that coordinate over any single color. Color coordination ties together a design, regardless of the genes or mutations on the pet. Black, white, and blue aren't the only colors that make a design, but shades and complementing colors may make a world of difference. To see what designs I tend to like, the 2016 Winter Fest Design Favorites lists some nice color coordinating pets.
2. For Contest 2, Redesign, I will weigh more heavily on color choice and color template than genes/mutations selected. (The genes and mutations should show off the color choices.)
3. Using ice-themed genes/mutations may not necessarily make the design more fitting to the theme. Using Crystalline Gems or Frozen Horns won't sell the design as much another gene/mutation that makes good use of colors.
4. If it helps, these are the genes and mutations that I like thus far:
G1: Dilopho Markings, Marbled Tabby, Saber-Toothed, Caterpillar, Diamondback, Fine Stripes
G2: All of them may work depending on how G2's color is tweaked (towards the darker colors)
G3: Cecropia Markings, Nebula, Dusk Wings?
M1: Battle Armor, Quad Arms, Frozen Spikes, Flower Armor, Starlight Armor?, Essence of Flames
M2: (if color was tweaked, I'd like these more) Jeweled Horns, Ornate Horns, Frozen Horns?, Essence of Flames, Battle Helm, Starlight Crown
M3: All of them may work, though Demonic Essence looks cool.
5. You don't have to follow my advice or most liked genes or mutations! I'd love to be pleasantly surprised by things I wouldn't think I'd like. :)
6. You don't need to explain your color choices, gene/mutation choices, nor give a story on your design. It's fine if you do, but the design will be where I base my decisions on.
7. (newly added) Feel free to post either male or female versions of the design (or both)! I will take the overall design into consideration, so the gender won't factor in, only the design. ^^
End Date and Prizes
Both contests will end when I reach 25 entries between both contests, or a month from now, on January 25th, whichever comes last. (the more entries, the better! if the winter festival affects the entry numbers, I'll extend it further)
Afterwards, I will pick the up to 10 designs as my favorites in the overall entries.
Within each contest, there will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
1-10 favorite designs
- choice of either one 12GP regen ny'vene ancestor of the project, OR one completed max stat Nether Frost Ny'vene (infertility pending, still making a decision on that)
Regenerate
1st place - 150k in gold
2nd place - 75k in gold
3rd place - 50k in gold
Redesign
1st place - 300k in gold
2nd place - 200k in gold
3rd place - 100k in gold
- Your design may be picked, but may not necessarily end up in the 1st-3rd places, and vice versa (you may end up in 1st-3rd place, but not necessarily have your design favorite'd.
- In the case that your design is both favorite'd and placed in one of the category contests, you may have both the gold prize and choice of ny'vene prize.
- You may only place in one category, not both.
- If you submit multiple designs, only one of them can be favorite'd.
- I may have less than 10 favorite designs. 1 favorite is my minimum, and 10 is my maximum.
(So you can win once in both, but not multiple times in individual categories)
