Cat Picture
My 10 year old son just finished drawing this. He has also been learning how to program using Java Script and Python.
I think perhaps he outta teach me how to draw, as I cant do this good of a job.
Had to brag a little bit. My art typically comes out as stick figures!
He used his daddy's Wacom tablet to draw. Something I definitely cant do.

Using a Wacom tablet just takes some getting used to, especially if it isn't a Cintiq (a tablet with your computer screen ON the tablet). He most likely has an Intuos or a Bamboo, which just aligns to the computer screen. If you try to use it as a normal mouse all of the time you'll get use to it quickly. I've been using my iPad Pro and Apple Pencil to doodle in Adobe Sketch. iPad + Pencil is a good way to start drawing digitally as it feels more natural than a Wacom tablet... however it is price-y.
Draw from reference and trace photographs to start. Tracing is a good way to learn anatomy or helps you get started if you're stuck... as long as what you are drawing exists (drawing a dragon can be more difficult than a dog because there are no PHOTOS of dragons).
Real life is the best reference you can draw from, photos are second best. Camera lenses distort the picture slightly, so photos aren't the best. If you draw an apple physically in front of you, you will get better results than looking at a photo of an apple.
Drawing also takes some patience. It's easy to doodle a stick figure, but with patience, time and observation you CAN draw a human figure.
I believe anyone can learn how to draw. Honestly all it takes is patience and practice. Eventually you develop your own style as well, or you are able to explore a variety of styles. Pablo Picasso wasn't limited to cubism, he could actually paint in any style, he just chose to paint cubism!
Remember that drawing REALISTICALLY doesn't mean you're good at drawing or art. It means you're good at drawing realistic looking pictures. Good drawing can mean different things to anyone, especially if you've gone to art school like I did. There are actually A LOT of artists who can't draw a realistic looking cat. It's just their style.
