Anyone else going to do National Novel Writing Month this coming November?

I did it last year, and I had lots of fun with it!

Has anyone tried it before? What did you think?

I signed up for Nanowrimo like a couple of years ago. But because of depression took over, I never finished mine :(
I'm planning on trying again this year! But with all the heavy university work, I really hope I can pull it off x_x

Ooooh, ho boy, yes. I'm an avid Wrimoer, and this year is no exception. I'm going to be starting a rewrite of a 6-year old novel, so the excitement is really building.

What are people writing this year? Got plans yet?

I'm kind of rebelling this year 8-)

I'm writing 50k worth of short stories from the perspective of two or three very young deities.

The short stories are all interlinked in a way that might loosely be termed 'novel'. There is a central plot running through it...but. Eh. We'll see what it becomes.

I keep meaning to do it but never get around to it. Glad I popped by this forum, I had already forgotten it was coming up. I wasn't aware you had to sign up to do it though.

Oooooo, that sounds like a really fun project. (I find just about any mythology in any form really irresistible.) Sounds like you have a firm grasp on what you want to write well ahead of time, too, which is always good.

You should definitely give it a go! You can go solo, of course, but I would highly suggest signing up on the website (nanowrimo.org) so you can get the full experience. Set up a project, maybe draw yourself a cover, meet some other writers on the forums, update your wordcount each day... it's part of the fun, being part of the WriMo community and writing alongside thousands of other people.
Either way, I hope you do try it this year. NaNoWriMo has been a wonderful experience, and if you want to write regularly, it makes a great tool too.
