What I was thinking of was an area, maybe in a town further down the road, where you can go and get your egg a "Check-up", for a fee, to see things regarding your egg.
Such as,
"What gender will my egg be?"
"What traits will he/she show/carry?"
"What species will it be?" (For captured eggs)
and so on.
And as a little "Bonus" for the fee you just paid, maybe get a few extra nurturing points too!

I really like this idea. It reminds me of something similar on another site but with some different interesting options. Not only would this this be great for helping deal with curiosity but this could also serve the role as another form of gold sink.

Ooo yes, but its has to be a decent fee, since this is an alternative to paying other players or buying ur own genetic tester. I would prefer this over a genetic tester if its cheap, altho i'd still would prob save my diamonds for the unlimited use tester, since in the long run it would save money. Somewhere around 50-1000 per Finding out, or maybe even depending on what you want figured out, say genetics: ex: 50 for finding nothing, 100 for a carry, and maybe 500 for a visible. Of course for species and gender, that will have an equal price for all and prob a cheap one too, since this can be figured out when an egg hatches.

While this would be extremely useful, I kind of like not knowing what exactly would come out of the egg and three days really isn't that long of a wait lol. Then again I can be a patient person. It would kind of beat the point of the genetic testing kit to me (which I bought... XD) Some people aren't as patient.
If you already have the kit I wouldn't use diamonds on an eggling doctor. XD

This isn't too bad of an idea actually...as long as it's expanded a bit.
- Make it so that it covers all the pets, including hatchlings, adolescents and adults
- Make the fee fairly expensive to do more than a few pets at a time. As charge different fees but make them advanced notice (ie: Basic info on egglings = 100g while Genetics & Mutations are 500g for each.)
To elaborate on this a bit... this is what the doctors page could look like
******
1. [Egglings] [Hatchlings] [Adolescents] [Adults]
<Click on one>
2. [Gender/Species = 100g] [Nuture (1point) = 100g] [Genetics = 500g] [Mutations = 500g]
(Egglings Only) (Egglings Only)
3. <Select Sylesti>
******
This would allow players to get information on their pets while still charging enough that it would still benefit those players who bought the Greater Genetic Tester. For one pet (not counting egglings) it would cost 1k to test them. Multiply that by say 20 pets and thats 20k that newer players can't afford easily. The older players who can easily make 50k+ a day would still have a hard time because they mostly spend a lot of time breeding and most of them have bought the tester anyways.
The social aspect can still be there as most of the players who offer testing do so free so that's available too. This would simply benefit the players who can't afford the tester or are uncomfortable risking their pests through friendly testings.

I can't say I see the need for this... Eggs hatch in 3 days (or less, depending), and I'm pretty sure if we were meant to be able to see their information before they hatch, it would be possible to use testing kits on them already. :/ As for the suggestion elaborations providing an alternative to testing kits - there's definitely no need for that. It is not difficult to get pets tested. We have the non-diamond testing kits too, and I'm pretty sure we've never actually had someone scam people out of their pets by offering to test them. Even if we did, it would be easy to report that and get your pets back. So no, I don't support this, sorry! :c

Its also assuming that other players (especially new ones) are willing to trust someone to actually return there pets. I've seen a lot of pet sites where people will say they'll help you and end up simply leaving the game or not being able to get on for a while. Others were doing it as scams and the admins were nothing like Krin or Faiona. Most sites just tell you how stupid you are for trusting someone to actually keep their end of the bargin.
Remember these are real humans that have real lives we're asking to help us or trust others to help them. Not everyone can or should be on this game 24/7. Neither is it fair to those people who are willing to sit there and test all these pets for nothing other than to be helpful. If 5 people request having 10 pets tested thats 50 pets that a person has to test and send back to the right owners. Easy to keep track of but still a bit of a pain, especially if that person isn't the original breeder of the pets.
On top of that not everyone has the connection to sit there and do the nurturing for hours on end just to get one tester when they have 3+ tabs of pets that need to be tested and more coming often. I recommend the adaptions for those who can't spend the time for the alternatives and are not able to spend the time getting their pets tested or are afraid to risk the pets that they worked to get.
I never would have sent any of my pets out to get tested if 1) I hadn't gotten very good recommendations about the person I'm using and 2) said person hadn't talked to me for nearly 2 hours the first day I joined.
I had avoided the testing as long as I could but with how flooded the market is on pets it's necessary to have nicer pets that are more likely to sell.

That's all fine and well, but it's got nothing to do with this thread's original suggestion, so I'd recommend making your own thread for it so we can stop hijacking this one with a pointless discussion. I say "pointless" because alternatives to the current pet testing system have already been suggested and turned down by the admin, and what you're suggesting is similar enough I can guarantee it'll never be accepted for the same reason the other suggestions were turned down.
If security is THAT much of an issue to you, all I can say is, buy your own testing kits. People who test pets for others are part of this site's community, and nobody is forcing you to use them or trust them. Furthermore, getting your pets tested is in NO way necessary. It's simply an added convenience for pet breeding.

As I stated before, I completely agree to this. Three days for an egg to hatch is fine (Can't be that impatient unless you have that one egg you breed and get so excited waiting for it to hatch..). Not to mention the testing kit for eggs might be just as many diamonds as a normal testing kit (which is currently 1500) So I really don't see the point. As Mutie pointed out, there are even single use testing kits for scales (even though scales *are* a hassle to get a lot of the time lol)
I don't know a lot about people who test pets for gold/free, but I don't think anyone of the people who buy them would scam people out of their pets, ESPECIALLY since the people who do buy them are usually older people with jobs and are the more mature people with no need to scam other members out of their pets. Of course, that part is irrelevant to this topic but still. Considering, either way, that doesn't matter in the end with the subject of this particular suggestion *shrugs*

Most newer members don't spend money on a site they don't know if they'll care to stick with. By the time you use the money to buy the kit, you usually have no need to scam. Besides, wouldn't the same caution be said for people who pay money for a different kind of diamond way to test pets? If it weren't for diamonds it would beat the purpose of the genetic test kit.
Anyway. I doubt this'll be put into the game with the short hatch time and the already-existing genetic testing kits.
