When one is new, Sylestia can be confusing. While Sylestia one of the friendliest and most welcoming communities on the 'Net, many new players are uncomfortable asking questions about how things work.

This thread is for newer players to have a chance to learn about how Sylesti auctions work by participating in "Auctions with training wheels." The prices are low, without those huge, intimidating sums of gold and Diamonds changing hands, yet one can still purchase a valuable pet.

Special Note: This will be the last "Auction With Training Wheels" before the Spring Festival. Lots of things happen during Festivals, and among those things are auctions of the new Spring Themed. These auctions usually start about midway through a Festival and really take off just as the Festival ends. As a newer player, you are just as eligible as anyone else is to snag great pets from auctions. This auction is your chance to gain some auction experience before those new Themed are at stake.

Remember, even if you don't bid or aren't qualified to bid, you can still follow this auction. You might learn something!

Here's how it works. First, read at least the first post in each of these threads--

As you can see, these rules are just ordinary politeness plus common sense. The enormous majority of players follow these rules without even thinking about it, which is one reason Sylestia is such a cool place.

To these rules I add the following, specific to this thread--

1. You may only participate in an Auction here if your account is at least 30 days old but no more than 120 days old.

2. I will allow a bidder to withdraw a bid if the bidder realizes they bid more gold than they could afford, realizes they don't have room for the pet, etc., providing the bidder lets me know about their mistake. Please note that ordinary Auctions do not allow this! This is my special rule to help newer players participate in their first Auction with confidence. If you goof, it's not the end of the world.

3. If you don't understand something, or an aspect of an auction isn't clear, please post your question here. You see, if you have a question, there's probably two or three other people who have the same question and are too shy to ask it. Help everyone out by asking your question here in this thread. You don't have to be participating in an auction to ask questions. I especially urge players whose accounts are less than 30 days old to ask questions, even though they can't bid (yet).

Note: Final bid must stand for 15 minutes. This means if someone bids at 11:59 pm on Saturday, everyone else has until 12:14 am on Sunday to out-bid that person. If that person is outbid, the 15-minute clock starts over again. This keeps happening until 15 minutes has passed with no further bids, at which point the last high bidder wins the pet. This rule is to prevent sniping.

Pet #3 is a Purebred Anthias Lunemara--

Hello. I am named Fluorochrome.

I'm only selling Fluorochrome because I own his two children (both girls!). You see, the Mutation Color Three on an Anthias Lune is supposed to be dayglo lime yellow, but it has a tendency to "drift" to a mere bright yellow. However, Fluorchrome's M3 color is the true, screamingly bright lime yellow, and it bred true in his daughters. Therefore, I am willing to sell him. The Anthias Lune population needs that green disseminated among future generations of Anthias caterpillars.

Pet #5 is actually a pair of pets. Yes, you will occasionally see a player who insists upon selling a breedable pair of pets as a set. These two are Purebred Springtime Zolnixies--

In addition to being unrelated to each other and having good colors (very important for pets from the earliest Themes), these two have Carried traits that did not exist when the Springtime Zolnixi first came into existence. Each has an ancestor who was mutated to have a trait that is new to Springtime Nixies. Toby is the great-grandson of Mileach, the only Tamed Springtime with the Flower Vines trait. Annwr is the granddaughter of Siorus, the only Tamed Springtime with Glowing Stripes.
