I was wondering if you can only breed your Sylesti with someone else's or if I could breed two of my own, and if so, how?

You can either breed with yours to someone else's if they're set up for breeding or you can breed your own. For breeding your own, look under the explore tab and go to Breeding Grounds. You'll be able to breed yours there if they're adults.
Just be careful since you're starting out not to breed too many right away. It's easy to get overwhelmed early on with too many pets and not enough space.

Generated pets take 18 days to become an adult.
Eggs take about three days to hatch, give or take how many nurture clicks they have. Around 6 days after hatching to reach adolescent, again given how many nurture clicks are received. However, a hatched pet will not become an adult until it reaches 27 days old no matter how many nurture clicks it recieved as an eggling or a hatchling.
