Many people, pick up, leave sylestia. But some of those players might want to come back, and can't remember the name (I've done this many times)
What if your account sent you an email saying "come back your pets miss you" with the little crying jinxie that's on the site down page. It would auto send at 30 days and 180 days and every 180 days after that.
That would mean a month of inactive you get an email, six months from that another, and another six months after that.
And then people would be like, oh yeah, i need to go play that game again.
Also on he email, there would be a link that says "click here to disable these emails". That way people dont have to see them after they see them, and don't want no more.
Also a way to de activate accounts would be nice (courtesy of GC) maybe in the account settings, or something to get rid of your account. You wouldn't be able to re register with the same email though, just to make sure your deleting your account, and not re starting.
Opinions are greatly appreciated :)

Support.
I think this is a great idea, because maybe even 50% (or more) of Sylestia accounts haven't been logged into for a year or over.
Maybe if you haven't logged onto Sylestia for, say, 6 months, you get a reminder email (Maybe at the bottom of the email there could be a crying Jinxie, I don't know.)
Then, after you get the 6 months email, you get an email exactly a month after you got the last email.
Maybe there could be 2 buttons at the bottom, a button that takes you to Sylestia's home page, and one that takes you to this page where you can de-activate your account (If you are 100% sure that you will never log onto your account again and do not intend on playing Sylestia again). Then you have to write the email you used to sign up for Sylestia, your Sylestia username and your password. Then there might possibly be a 'I'm Not A Robot' test, I don't know.
After you press the 'De-Activate My Account' button, there's no turning back. All your data is gone, and if someone owns a pet that you were the original owner of, your username is still there, but when you click it, it says on the page 'USER DE-ACTIVATED'.
Also, once your account is de-activated, you cannot sign up with a new account with the email from the deleted account.
You will also stop getting emails from Sylestia once your account is deleted.
That's just me adding onto the idea, but the original idea is a great idea.

Support the main idea, since I don't see why not.
I have returned to playing games that i've stopped playing for over a year, when I receive cute/humorous reminders that the game/my pets etc misses me.
Just that the time period shouldn't be too short. Maybe a year, then 2 years, 5 years, etc.
And an option to not receive further such emails for those who really do not want to be bothered.
Personally don't support deactivation/deletion of data.

An email might be a nice idea - perhaps when the Megazone is released?
Don't support deactivation/deletion at all - people may want to come back in the future, it's silly to remove their memories and stop them from doing so.

This is a great idea. I am always heartbroken when I get on a site and the person I used to play with most hasn't logged on for three months. Perhaps the reminder could tell you your password too if they forgot it.
This personally hasn't happened to me, (considering I'm still a tinsee bit new) but it might someday.

We used to send out emails as newsletters and announcements and it was met with awful performance.
Not only is it quite a feat to mass email thousands (now, tens of thousands) of people, but what ended up happening is X% marked it as spam and after a few newsletters, all of the major providers were just bouncing it back because we had been blacklisted.
Even now, just sending emails for registration, activation, and receipts, we have to constantly deal with providers blacklisting and blocking us... (looking at you, AT&T)
That, coupled with the fact that less than 1% actually viewed and followed through with the announcements made us just scrap the whole system.
Personally, I don't think emails are really valuable any longer outside of just wanted communication (receipts, forgot passwords, etc). I just instantly delete / unsubscribe / mark as spam like 98% of newsletters/announcements that I receive even from stuff that I'm interested in or sites that I frequent. And like I said, with providers now a days and how bad spam is, it's REALLY easy to end up on the blacklist.
That is also an additional issue. In order to avoid having our support email and noreply email blacklisted, we would have to send out announcement emails from a third party provider (or use a 2nd server of our own). It's actually quite expensive to use these and they are usually quite strict with what you can and can't do with them because they don't want their IPs blacklisted lol.
It just was too much of a headache all around, unfortunately.
