1) what are snowflakes and how do i get them.

1) If the snowflakes of which you speak are what I think they are, then they are the Winter Festival's Token for spending in the Winter Festival Shop. You can get them randomly while Nurturing Hatchlings and Egglings, randomly from Treasure Chests or battles in the Winter Festival Zone, and buying them from the Trade Broker. There may be other ways, but those are the ones I know for sure. :)
2) You can buy spice extractors from the Trade Broker, but I suspect that they can also be found randomly from Treasure Chests and battles in the Winter Festival Zone. You use them like you would a Trap, but if successful you get a special spice instead of the Sylesti.
3) The exact how of baking I don't personally know, but you go to Pastry Chef Francois on the Sylesti Baking page with several required ingredients and it says that he will help you learn how to bake. The purpose of the baking is to make Themed Sylestis.

There are probably guides somewhere with more details (I'm trying to find one with the updated recipes), but hopefully this gets you started. ^_^
