I was thinking maybe a way to put to better use those bad guys like the vorkids, myconids, bandits, etc.. would be so that every time you fight them you get something like a point or Item and after gathering so many you could create an essence of your choice. Of course the twist would be that the points/items have different ranks depending on the rank of the enemy that dropped it (and make it to where they drop one for each enemy on the field every battle) for instance this would effect the type of esscense you would create. So if you wanted a legendary esscense you would have to fight xxxx amount of a high ranked enemies or bosses to create, say, a Legendary Griffi esscense.

I think it might make getting essences too easy.
However, I do like the idea of npc's dropping tokens of some sort that could go for other things. Like if enemies in a particular region drop something accepted by that regions main town. Different types of enemies could even drop different things to make it more interesting. Eventually there's going to be crafting and most likely housing as well. Perhaps tokens dropped from enemies in this way could go for some of the materials or items used in those.

I suppose AP points already work in a similar way. I must admit it would be nice if there were a few other things that AP points could be spent on. With regards to essences, I think they'd have to be priced very high (so avoid flooding the market) so maybe not worth it.
