So I'm not 100% if this has been suggested (I'm not even sure if it is already implemented), but I was thinking that there could be an expiry date for selling pets. Now I'm sure there are a lot of pros and cons to this as it generally takes time for breeders to put a variety of pets up for sale at once, but i think it could aide the economy.
Basically, the idea is similar to that of item sale, that after a certain point of time, the pet sale would expire and the pet would be "returned" to the owner, who would then have to put it back up for sale or at said point release the pet.
My idea came about as I recently realized that i had had a pet up for sale for some time. And though I found her traits to be appealing, the demand simply wasn't there and I so I released the pet.
Now before people come around saying how annoying this would be or how releasing pets is cruel and that whole shebang. Th expiry time would last much longer than sale in shops. I was thinking around 4-6 months but of course that all up for debate
Granted I know this would give people less ability to purchase rare pets from users that suddenly go MIA (for example if a user put a Vampire Griffi for sale at a high price, the pet even though it was once for sale, would disappear from the market until that user returned, if ever). But ultimately I think that it would make pets more valuable. If one is for sale now, it would be hard to say when it would expire and so buying pets asap would likely be more prevalent.
Furthermore i think it would discourage more users for trying to sell a pet for an extremely high price (based on traits, themed etc. of course). So an example of this would be if I caught a Zolnixi with carried moth wings, I wouldn't try to sell it for 50k because i know that no one will buy it and it will only come down later.
Again, like in my other suggestion posts, I know nothing about programming or how this would even work. I really just wanted to put it out there and see what other users thought about the idea! ^ ^

I like this idea and I bet it would help the economy :) it'd be a fun suspense if you saw a pet you wanted and was like "how lucky I am that this is here!" Rather than "oh cool pet, I think I'll buy that." I have set a sort of thing like this up for myself though XD it's much different, because I'm a small breeder. But in my hatchery I set unnamed pets for sale. If they don't get bought before they are adults they are released. I know this wouldn't work for everyone because more dedicated, older players and bigger breeders have stables just for sales. And sell adult pets more or less. It's just something that works for me.
Anyway, I love this idea and would be happy to see it in action someday :) if possible

It's the rare pets including themed potentially disappearing that worries me.

As someone who recently bought a 2 million gold pet I was admiring long termly but couldn't afford before, I honestly loathe this idea, for what it could mean to someone wanting to save up for something, only to see it disappear, not even get bought first, but just cease to be for sale.

I see your point but I dont think this is a good idea. Like Zelly said some people wait and save up to buy the really high priced pets but takes a while to earn up the amount. Plus allot of people have lots of pets up for sell and when the time does come to relist them it be super duper tedious task.

And I see your point treetoes, even if they added a way of "mass selling" or selecting a large number of pets at once to sell it still could take a while for big sellers to get them all back up. Like those 40 page hatcheries..

I totally understand where you guys are coming from. I too have admired some pets over a long period of time and even now contemplate buying some and i didn't really think to hard about that aspect i guess. It's funny because the thought often crosses my mind that i wish we could take themed pets away from users who have been inactive for long periods of time (even though i know this is something we couldn't ever do).
I really just wanted to hear feedback on the idea so I'm stoked that you guys responded, as the last time i checked there were no responses at all. Anyway i pinged you all as a thanks haha ^ ^

This idea would probably somehow be incorporated into our Pet Auction system down the road. Atm though, there isn't really a way for me to implement this.
