This is a weird Phantom theory I have cooked up based on evidence from adventures. I call it,
The Phantom Theory
You have always thought Phantoms were evil, right? Well what if I told you that was only partly true. What would you think then?
You see, Phantoms could be forced to do the things they do. Phantoms are probably a bit based on insects, bees and ants specifically, as there is a quest called "The Hive." Not many insects have hives, wasps, bees, yellowjackets, ants. And in a sense, the queen of the hive controls the workers.
With Phantoms, there is a King that might just, under some sort of mind control, control Phantoms. It is shown there are multiple Kings, but what if only the Kings hate animals? What if regular phantoms are brainwashed to hate animals? They aren't able to speak for themselves and are forced to become slaves to the Kings to harm animals in any way they can. What if they actually just want harmony between animals and Phantoms?
This is just a theory, but who knows what actually happens with Phantoms? They seem so dumb that they can't see you even when you're dancing in tall grass on missions, but what if it's because they can't speak for themselves?

I like your theory, but keep in mind that social insects aren't controlled by their queens... The colony acts a group of basic individuals, communicating and cooperating through pheromones and bodily gestures. All that workers do is for the good of the ENTIRE colony. They care for their queen(s) because she's the only fertile, reproductive member of the colony- if a few soldiers or workers die, she is the sole source of colony replenishment. That's the only reason why they take special care of her...Unless, of course, she's being too selfish and not laying enough eggs, in which case they just kill her. :D
Not to be rude or anything, it's just that if the phantoms are being controlled by some external force, it probably has nothing to do with them being based around insects. Besides that, the theory you came up with is really cool. Maybe the Phantom Kings control them through some arcane science or ancient curse, or just go the old-fashioned route of modern politicians and tell them that the cute lil' animals are terrorists, or something.
