Hello,
I was wondering when the 3rd party member becomes available. Does the button light up at a certain amount of gold? Do I have to be on a specific quest? I have been looking for this answer, but I couldn't seem to find this anywhere.

The 3rd party slot is purchasable from the town in the second region.

By completing the "Capturing a Sylesti" quest in Trollsblight Cavern. Once you complete it, open the reward satchel from your Inventory.
At that point, you can then purchase the 2nd slot from Esior's Haven.
