So the Iridescent Scales is a very.. interesting mutation for the Qitari. In a good way.
I wanted to set a project making an Iridescent Qitari - body and scales with the iridescent look - but once I switched the gender to look at the female version it was... *sighs* It was heart breaking. What was a perfect and delicate blend of colors on the male, became a horrible messy wreck on the female.
The female scales are much more... orangey. And they have twice the saturation in color. It's clear as day with this particular project, but I can imagine it may be a deterrent for other projects as well. So the suggestion would be to balance out the mutation between genders, so that they... well, you know... match.
As for me it's back to the drawing board. Or the preview generator, at any rate. Wish I'd known of the female's different coloration before getting all of the male's traits down. -.-;
Edit: Working on design here, for those curious to see how it's going.

I really would like this idea to be implemented. I liked the scales themselves but the color difference is a little annoying...

Both agree and disagree.
I think that the fact the scales aren't exactly the same is a bit of a pain, and it would certainly make matching the colours hard. Personally, I like the female's scale colours more. I do think it would be nice to see the colours match a little closer, at some point.
But that's the thing, I don't think this should be a priority. To me, it's kind of like the fact that the Vulnyx's inner ears are taken from different colours on the male and female. A bit tedious and can bother some people with a serious nit picking problem. (Yo!) But overall not a big deal.
With everything else they're working on right now, I don't think this is something that warrants much attention. It is something that could use a solution someday, but I'd call it something to be put way on the backburners.
Tl;dr yeah it's not great they don't match, but right now the admins and artists should work on other stuff rather than this.

I agree with the points made, but still. That is a major change in color. The pinky orange yellow on the male becomes much brighter and orangier on the female. They're practically different colors.
Side, note, is this project in the works for real? It's absolutely beautiful and I would love to get in on it! The colors are beautiful.

Ah, I know it'd be a major deal to make over such a small change which is why I'm not really expecting it'll happen. But it's a suggestion no less, one I felt was worth at least mentioning.
Chances are I'll turn it into a project eventually, but for such delicate colors it will take mystical essences to complete. Or greater pet dyes. I'm not exactly sure how I want to proceed yet... Chances are I'll work on breeding the traits together, then use greater dyes once I have a handful of 'em with all that I need in one package.
And I'm still working on a slightly different colorscheme. The male I first designed was just perfect - it was exactly what I hoped to achieve. But the female version was just so... blah. The subtle differences from the scales really killed it.
So far, it's looking more like this:
But still the female version isn't blending as well as I want. Still tweaking the design to make them both look right. I'll need to throw in some more orange... somewhere that it won't kill the male's design...
I'll throw your name up on a profile list to let you know when I have the final project plans set. And thanks for the interest! :)

Goodness that is lovely! Thanks for the jot down! [Making that quick because we don't want to get in trouble for discussing projects in the suggestion box]
