OK, the Vulnyx's markings are derived from those of real servals, tigers, cheetahs, lynxes, and calico cats; the Sylvorpa's Angler Lights look like those on the female angler fish; the Zolnixi's Comet Moth Wings look like the wings of an insect called the comet moth; the Nytekri's Osprey pattern and Cockatoo Crest have obvious sources; etc.

What's the source of the Aeridini's "Tiger Sparrow Wings"? What in the world is a "tiger sparrow"? Anyone?

I did the same thing, Flute, and got the same results--Tiger Swallowtail Butterflies, not Tiger Sparrow Butterflies. Every search engine I used, the engine "corrected" sparrow to swallowtail. This is why search engines are so useless for looking up unusual things.

I am wondering if the Aeridini Mutation's name is a mistake, and it was actually supposed to be "Tiger Swallowtail Wings," though it seems like a long jump from a two-syllable to a three-syllable word.

hum, perhaps

i was thinking something like the pattern of sparrow wings on butterfly wings, but perhaps you're right

It isn't so much the syllables that I'd be worried about, but fitting the words into the mutation slot aha (then again, Flaming Hellhound Armor and Rainbow Mechanical Armor are names for mutations)...

I wouldn't be surprised if 'sparrow' got confused for the 'swallow' part though. I would have just left it at "Tiger Swallow Wings" or something if it was at the back of my head aha
