I would love it if we could have forum signatures, something that appeared at the bottom of our posts. I've seen a plethora of other sites that have them and it doesn't seem to cause clutter issues.

Customization is always fun :3

/chimes in

If this becomes a thing, I know Gaia Online only shows the sig for a player's last post in a page. So if that player posted multiple times, their sig only appears at the bottommost last post.

I don't really know about other sites, but I remember that some have a 250 character limit or a dimension limit. o:

I'd think that a way to prevent possible clutter is to have the sig (whether text or picture) resized to a set size. (Like how quoting a post resizes the text, or how trying to post something bigger than 500x500 in a post resizes it automatically.)
That, or provide a toggle to hide signatures. Or have a toggle-able setting to hide/show signatures the same way some forums have a hide/show spoilers sort of thing.

I would personally only support this if it only permitted formats that are difficult to animate. [Ie: I think if it only allowed .Png it wouldn't display an Apng with the animation]. This is because on a lot of sites that allow signatures I end up being subjected to a LOT of flashing/flickering animations, which i'd personally rather not be exposed to given my seizure disorder.

However, it is worth noting such a change also requires further moderation of the site for unacceptable content, on a site that has no forum moderators in place, so it is a gamble of a feature to add.

Hmmm, I've been thinking about this. One of my favorite features of Sylestia is how streamlined and clean it all is, without misc advertisements and/or other overwhelming features found in most signatures elsewhere. This might not be entirely practical in the face of this suggestion, but my ideal forum signature would be maybe 100 - 200 pixels tall so I could stuff pokemon sprites in there

The flight rising signatures are really nice, imo.

So while I'm not against it, I'd def personally prefer something more minimal :O

this sounds really harsh/restrictive in retrospect so I'd like to emphasize that this is noting more than my preference, and a different view for the admins to consider when looking over this suggestion owo

Personally, I don't like signatures, as I feel they make forums more clustered, and they are distracting.
But I understand some people really like them, so I'll suggest if this is implemented, there could also be an option to toggle signatures on/off.
