I get that they are supposed to be exceedingly rare and hard to find. That is certainly part of their appeal I am sure. But here we are coming to the close of yet another festival where the amount of themed tamed nephs found is appallingly low.
I think it's high time the spawn rate of these pets was given a harder look. There is already so many of the themed nephs that have never been found and will never be available. Combine that with the number of players who catch these rare creatures and then never return to Sylestia, needless to say, it is making a very rare pet.....extinct.
I would like to note - I am not advocating to make them as common as the rest of the festival pets or even as common as the seasonal species festival pets. But perhaps just a small bump to their spawn rate to up the average caught per fest of each theme in the 10-15 range (Like the BI Neph) as opposed to the 0-7 range.
The numbers:
(Only fest zone neph themes have been listed)
Aurora Nephini: 8
Autumn Leaves Nephini: 5
Blooming Iris Nephini: 17
(1 from an egg auction and not actually tamed)
Cool Breeze Nephini: 6
(1 from an egg auction and not actually tamed)
Festive Nephini: 0
Halloween Nephini: 2
Lazy Days Nephini: Currently 0
Lucky Nephini: 0
River Nymph Nephini: 9
Sweet Pea Nephini: 1
Twilight Nephini: 6
Out of all of these themed I believe only two - possibly 3 - currently have the option of even creating a 6v theme. And only 1 of the themes - The blooming Iris Nephini - offers very much in the way of a nice selection of traits.
While adding the egg nests was an exceptional idea, the spawn rate of these is much much too low. Only one has been found this festival so far. 1 Neph egg out of 100's of standard fest eggs.
The eggling auction with themed fest area pets is also a great idea and very much appreciated, but is not filling the gap for these ever elusive pets.
I'd love to hear other suggestions on how we might increase the population of these themed pets or if perhaps there is something in the works to fix this void?
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Many apologies if this suggestion/issue has already been brought to light and addressed.

I completely agree with this ^^ Especially since there are /zero/ nephini found with two themed. Nephinis are elusive, rare. However, I think that the rate for encountering a themed nephini ought to be higher. Maybe make it a 25% chance that if you find a nephini in a festival, it will be themed. Considering that many people find general 2 nephini per festival, this increases the chances but still makes it hard.

I think that the egg find rate is fine. I like finding the eggs being super duper rare for nephs (though the nest spawn in general ought to be higher) so I don't think THAT should be changed, however the wild pet encounters of themed nephs needs to be raised. Currently 3 themes that haven't been found is an obvious sign that something's wrong.

I like Keanai's idea -- I've run into 2 wile nephs this fest, as well as during the Spring event (tho I also found a Cool Breeze neph somehow). It'd be great if running into a nephini period were more likely, but a greater chance that a given neph you've run into will be themed would also even the odds a little.

I can certainly agree that this is a problem. There are a few ways I can think of that might remedy this:
1 - As suggested, increase the probability of finding them.
2 - Reduce the number of themes for the Nephini, so that there is only 1 for a fest, rather than two. This would decrease the frustration over not finding any, or only a few of one type since it would increase the chances of finding enough for the one theme, rather than the usually abysmal rate for the two themes.
3 - Increase the number of eggs in the auctions; rather than having just one of each in the second auction (like last fest), have one of each in each auction, or two of one in the first and two of the other in the second.
4 - Have a trader who players can buy them from; the price would have to be very high, of course. Maybe for tokens, or perhaps a number of tamed nephini caught in the zone? Or maybe the NPC could sell something to increase the chances of find the themed Nephs.
5 - Have the old themes return again in the same fest the following year, so that there's a chance to increase the populations.
6 - Have a diamond auction for some of the themed to support the site and increase the populations.
A combination of some of these might work better, as well.
If I come up with more, I'll add them in later.

I agree upping the chance that a Nephini will be THEMED when found in the festival zone.
It's extremely rare to even find a wild Neph as it is - many players will go their entire festival season without ever having a single Nephini sighting. So raising the chance of a Nephini being a themed would do wonders for their themed versions. And overall, the Neph would still be just as rare to find as they generally are. We'd just get a handful of themed rather than little-to-no themed.

Alright, this is long, but it breaks down the numbers and may help shed some light on the "issue"
This is simply information to help everyone have a better understanding as to the re-spawn/ capture issue and nothing more than that.
----------------------
The Halloween pets in general were initially only released for one day: Halloween. One of the two nephinis caught was in fact on that day. Because so few Halloween pets in all had been found and due to a massive amount of requests from players, the Halloween pets were re-released for the last day or two of the fest. (2-3 days in total) that was when the other Halloween neph was caught. Considering the short time frame of availability, that's actually a pretty decent number of Halloween themed nephs being caught.
--------
Second, and in contradiction to what I had originally posted, the Halloween, twilight and autumn leaves nephini were all released for the fall festival. (I initially said the autumn leaves were the only themed that fest) Looking at the birth dates of those nephs, I believe the fall festival lasted close to 3 weeks and a total of 13 themed nephs were successfully caught in that time frame.
so just shy of 5 themed nephs per week captured. That, for one festival is actually a much higher number of tagged nephs captured than the general notion of 5 or 7 (or less) per festival.
When you take into consideration that the overall number of total pet species was lower then than it is now: (the Luffox was not yet around) the odds would have undoubtedly been higher in catching a neph back then simply because of the lower amount of pets around.
--------------
As far as this festival is concerned, Even though a lazy day neph has not been captured, at least one has been seen, it ran.
Which is another good point to remember. Even though we see that we only have these "dismal numbers" of nephs around, what most people tend to forget is that the nephs captured are not an all inclusive list of those that actually spawned. I am sure that there have been a handful of people who either un-knowingly ran away from a tagged neph or had it run when they tried to capture it, and let's not forget those critical hit mistakes.
---------------
Let's break it down to number of nephs per festival rather than number of nephs per tagged:
Fall festival: Duration: 3 weeks. Number of tagged nephs caught: 13 (# of variations: 3)
Winter Festival: Duration: 3 weeks. Number of tagged nephs caught: 8 (# of variations: 2)
*** Lets make a note here though that the festive nephs (none caught) only had a week and a half)
Week of love: Duration: 9 days Number of tagged nephs caught: 1 (# of variations: 1)
Festival of fortune: Duration: 3 days. Number of tagged nephs caught: 0 (# of variations 1)
Spring festival: Duration: Roughly 3 and 1/2 weeks. Number of tagged nephs caught: 21 (# of variations 2)
***** Yes this is excluding the ones won from the eggling auction.
Summer festival: Duration: 2 weeks. Number of tagged nephs caught so far: 9. (# of variations 2)
And please remember, this is just what was caught and does not include what was seen.
When we look at the overalls, sure some festivals are much more lacking than others, but the overall trend is a fairly decent amount.
Even the Halloween nephs, considering the time allotted it a pretty good turn out.
-----------------
Another thing to keep in mind is that the Nephini is in fact a fabled species and part of the pet description for them states, and this is a direct quote: "...those who find them in the wild are often considered to be very fortunate. Those who own a Nephini are considered to be a legend. "
The point here: The nephs are supposed to be extremely, extremely exclusive to begin with. Then when tags are thrown into the mix, that makes the pet an even rarer, more incredible find.
-------------------
In response to players complaining about not seeing even a common neph: there are a couple of factors here that need to be pointed out.
First one, there is definitely a random amount of luck involved. I have seen other players and have also myself ran into two nephs in under ten minutes then gone days without seeing them.
Further more, how much as a player are you moving around? the more you move, the higher the chance to encounter. I know I myself ran into around 6 nephs in under 24 hours this festival alone. I have seen at least 1 neph almost every day this festival, but I grind 5-8 hours a day when my schedule permits it. I a aware not everyone else is able to do this, but everything can't suit everyone's needs all the time. Even grinding on occasion when you have the time to will eventually result in a run in with a neph. The days I spend more time chatting and wandering around the site than exploring the fields, I don't run into any or it is a much rarer occurrence.
----------------------
One last thing I want to point out just about the overall number of captured nephs, not limited only to tagged nephs: Most people who have encountered more than 2 or 3 wild nephs such as myself do not even bother capturing the nephs anymore and simply kill them and move on, so measuring the need for change based off the total number of tamed nephs in existence is unfortunately an in-accurate, misinformed representation and way to go about creating change.

*nods head vigorously*.... yes, agree to this... where is the "like" button?
As you can see, I have not been here as long as others. This is my second big fest and I have spent lots of time in the Zone....This fest I found 3 wild Nephs, 2 which I was able to catch, no tagged. I keep hoping to find a themed Neph, I keep looking, but I have hit a bit of a frustration level where they are concerned.
I would like to see some change in the ratio or numbers pertaining to finding the tagged Nephs. I don't have any suggestions, as I don't know the programming behind this.... but please, could it be a tad bit easier?

Aww Dark, you didn't have to delete your post. I thought you had some very valid points and I welcome any and all comments on my suggestion thread :)
I am looking for a discussion - not necessarily just posts agreeing with what I say. I pinged you here to my thread because I know you are a neph fanatic -much like me - and I would love your imput on the matter. No wrong answers here :)

I completely agree with you here, i've seen one nephini this festival, and it wasn't even worth catching.
Raising the chances to find a themed nephini, or even a higher rarity nontagged nephini, would be amazing. I've been trying to get my hands on a River Nymph since they were first found, with no luck at all. I've given up on looking for a Lazy Days, since none this fest have been found at this point.
Increasing the chances would be great, along with increasing the chances of even finding a nest. I have seen none this fest and I always snag all the boxes, yet still none to be found.
Edit.
Alright, I went through and looked at some numbers.
There are 52 tagged tamed Nephini, ever. 900 exactly tamed non-tagged.
Now for a tagged tamed Aeridini, The newest species, there are 746. Which almost outnumbers the caught Nephini.
That is a little ridiculous, even for a rare pet.
