I learned that the creators of the pet designs for a festival still have to try and hope to catch one of their own creation... Honestly, I think this is unfair.

So, my suggestion is, the creators of the "winning" designs for any given festival, should receive a 2-vis or 3-vis of their creation, be it a regular themed or a wheel pet. As a prize, or reward, or whatever you want to call it. I think this would only be fair.

I'm flabberghasted that those people who sit and design and think and try this and re-try that in order to get the perfect design, don't get anything in return. Let them have their theme for free - they deserve it. Designing a pet takes time and work, you know.

She does have prizes, Elise. Any yes it does take a bit of time to make a pet. The people who created the pet do get a prize, they get to see people capturing their design and people loving them.

So basically, out of all the designers, only three get their creation? The others only get the satisfaction of exposure? Mmph. Still sounds unfair to me... Anyhow.

1. Sometimes, not everyone puts the same amount of work on their design as someone else.
(truthfully, I just carefully picked what colors matched together, tried to check what fits where on a pet, then winged it onto different pets, I know most others have a knack at doing the things that takes me an hour to do aha)

2. Sometimes, not everyone has the crazy-bent drive to catch their own design. A pet is still a pet, and as such, the designers can still vie like other regular players and buy them.

3. For some people, the reward of having their design showcased by being a catchable theme is enough reward in of itself.

While I would like this, partly because I was amazed and in awe for having my design picked as the second set, I feel like that is enough for me. I don't really have the insane motivation to chase after my theme other than a weakly bumped thread to buy my theme.

Whether it was my design or not, if I liked a pet that much, I'd buy it.

I've seen varying changes between how certain things were prized. There are times where if you helped create a gene/mutation, you get an essence of the pet you made a trait for. HOWEVER, that resulted in some issues where people got banal over someone else for having designs that were "too similar" to another's. Thus, no more essences.

I remember there were some festival avatar clothing prizes where you get your own design if it is picked. With that argument, I can say your suggestion is sound.

It's more fun and fulfilling when the designers can go out and catch their own design. My Blooming Iris Nephini was one of the designs chosen for the spring festival and it was great fun hunting one down. Admittedly I spent the entire festival searching for it, but in the end it was way worth it to catch it with my very own trap, rather then having it handed to me. :) I was also incredibly overjoyed when someone captured one at all considering how many are usually found in the wild~ although no public project was started for it, just the compliments on the design were enough for me. :)

I think being able to say "I designed this, it was chosen!" is a prize in itself.

I designed the forest guardian lupora. I am thrilled that I have the opportunity to go out and catch something that was put into game because I designed it.

If Krin and Fai had to go out and create 2 or 3 vis pets for each of the designs chosen, they'd be very delayed with everything else they have to do to keep the site running. I think it's perfect as is.

They make the prizes very clear, as has been posted above, and it's not like anyone is forcing someone to create a design. Think that not getting a custom pet is unfair? Then you don't have to enter! Easy peasy! :)

Heck, those "designers" don't HAVE to pick their OWN creation. They could pick someone else's. I would have.

As someone who has been here long enough to figure out what becomes a wheel pet and what becomes wild, I could abuse such a win and pick something nicer than what I designed. See? Scumbag use of being a random lucky winner.

While yes, satisfaction of exposure isn't as good as getting a real creation, a player designed a themed in hopes for getting it picked and exposed to everyone. The community. The game. That's what they were going for.
Whether they were going to win or not isn't as entitled as getting one's own creation for themselves...

Can't say I would mind there being a single pet prize for wheel pet designs because i've seen/self experienced the anxiety of trying really hard to get your own design from the wheel, just because those are not catchable. :3

It can be pretty fun catching your own though. I'm trying to gather up a collection of my Midnight Firefly Bulbori's to hopefully breed for a 3 vis someday. Admittedly I haven't managed to gather too many yet, but it's still fun hunting for them. ^^

Also, I do think the greatest prize is having others like your design!

Personally, I agree that the people whose design's are chose should get a free pet, mostly because I've been hunting since the second set and haven't found a single Caramel Apple Qitari, which is the one I made... And on top of that, it's frustrating trying to get other people to sell theirs because they're so attached. I've only managed to get 7 and I'm trying to make a 6-vis project out of them.

Anyways, I just think it would be a good idea because I know the frustration of not getting the one you made.

I would love this, to be honest. As much as I love bragging rights, and though I am willing to throw hefty bags o'gold to those who will sell their captures to me (spent millions of gold just for this festival), this would be a nice token of victory. Perhaps even marking it as an exclusive, if the theme isn't a wheel pet which would already be marked.

Also, taking my Barn Owl Nytekrie into example, I found ONE in the wild. Just one, within the last few days of the festival. The other 84 that I own were bought or gifted from other players since I couldn't find my own for my project. Considering that I probably caught at least 50 themed pets and found at least 100 all festival long, and only ONE was my Barn Owl design..? It was... really kind of saddening... Possibly part of the reason why I continued to hoard, and hoard, and hoard, until I had 40% of the entire tagged Barn Owl population. .__.;



And for what prizes there actually are, it isn't for those who's designs were chosen. It's anyone who participated. So it's possible that NONE of those who had a theme chosen will get to select a pet. This is more fair in the long-run, of course, but... it'd definitely be nice to be guaranteed at least one of my themed pet victories each festival.
