Sleeping and playing games are apparently not helpful stress-relieving hobbies.

So what do you do to de-stress?

They may not be but I've found playing games does actually help me a lot.

Other things I do to de-stress have been sprite work (anything from recoloring buttloads of pokemon sprites to starting an original project), reorganizing part of the room/apt, or going for a walk in the rain.
Sometimes starting to read a new webcomic helps too.

These are some things that sometimes help me:

-Draw! It doesn't even have to be anything specific. Even just letting your hand wander and scribble across a page can be therapeutic.
-If it's nice outside, go for a walk. If not, I sometimes do jumping jacks. It may feel silly but it helps get rid of excess energy and stress.
-Take a long shower or bath.
-Spend time with pets, if you have them.
-Listen to your favorite music.
-Watch a comedy special by your favorite comedian.
-Cook something yummy!

I hope that some of these help you and you feel better, Flute. c:

Pretty much everything listed above~ except the comedians for me. >.> I don't find a lot of comedians funny.
And I'll add cleaning to the list. :)

Sleeping for a lot of people is actually a great stress reliever, and I guess it depends on the person, and the game for the game.

Good ways to de-stress (according to my health class)
-Ask a friend for advice
-Write in a journal
-relax head/neck muscles
-walk, jog, run
-dance or sing
-help someone
-accept a new challenge
-cry or laugh
-read a book
-play for fun
-create something
-make a list of blessings
-cycle, swim or hike
-listen to music
-write poetry

There are other ways as well. Like taking a nap, talking to a pet to let feelings out, or screaming into a pillow. (and those mentioned above.)

Some won't be good for you depending on who you are and how you act. Like me, accepting a new challenge or working out does not help at all.

I'm probably weird, more or less, but I pretend I'm a game character or something and stuff. Yeah, kind if weird. But games almost always have good endings, so...

Anything that keeps your mind focused on what you're doing, rather than what's stressing you. My immediate reaction to stress is generally to clean up the house, get some much needed organization done. Really just being productive in general is majorly relaxing, because it takes your mind of things and it eliminates some of the sources for your stress. Even something as simple as getting a little grocery shopping done helps me.

I found doing some vent art can either help or make things worse, especially if art practice may be one of your stressors. I like to save the arts and crafts for after I've already relaxed a bit, sort of a stress relief cooldown.

Another huge stress relief for me is to get a good work out in. Slow paced exercising like going for a walk/jog or some yoga help, but I think the best are the ones that really test you. It's hard to focus on how stressed you are when you're too busy trying to not fall off a rock wall or drop your weights on your face. Really get those endorphins pumping :D

edit: Oh! Should also mention MAJOR stress relief for me is music! It's so easy to relax when you're finding cool new bands or singing and dancing along with your favorites

Yeah. And besides daydreaming, I like to read and stuff. Anything you like to normally do will help, most of the tine it works for me. Cleaning somehow helms even though I despise making my bed at the same time...

Thank you for the suggestions everyone. ;w;

I like taking naps, though it's kinda like a temporary sort of relief, so I hope I can look to do more of these later. c:

I do need to listen to more music...I just don't have readily-made playlists that I like. xD; /puts on Pandora hopefully

But I do like taking showers while listening to music. Whenever I take showers and remember to bring my phone, aha.

I do talk to my friends too often (well choice friends, particularly ones I think I'm close to and text quite a bit), but when it comes to my annoyances and stuff, I have such a hard time keeping it in, so I just...kinda rant. And I think it's just a distasteful side of me my friends aren't really liking, so hobbies are probably good...

I wanna clean my room after my exams, that's one thing I know for sure. I feel like I'm in such a rut between stress and exams coming up in the next two weeks. ;__;

I was hoping to play with sewing patterns (Lostwords kinda had this link somewhere and I bookmarked it aha) for the first time when I'm done with tests too. ;w;

And I was considering pretending to be a game character. But I'm Flute on Sylestia. xD I think I'm happy with just that. ;w; (Writing fiction is probably another thing I can do...but I feel like such a peach when I write xD)

As for exercising, my mom pushes it on me to lose weight, which is more stressful and a discouragement than anything. ;__; I know where she's coming from but it's like...well, not only am I being judged for not choosing to put more exercise in my life, but I feel I don't have endorphins when I run. ;w; (I was in marching band and what I felt from PT was a killer feeling of doom and helplessness LOL)

Sorry for the long reply and the ping, I just wanted to tell everyone I said thanks. ;w;

For music, I highly recommend bandcamp! It's all independent artists looking to share their music without the hassle of record labels. I get all my music there now a days, and you can listen to all their albums on the site for free :)
