Tried to use this scroll on this rikki:
Got this message.
The flavor text seems weird, too - 'add visible to the 0 trait slot??'

I mean, I can't speak for the text on the scroll, but as far as I know- being that I'm assuming they work the same as RTDs- you can't add an M1 trait to that pet because it has a no-vis carry in the M1 slot? (so it can't do a 2:2tp exchange)
I'm pretty sure I'm correct on this, but I can see that the text in the item description doesn't make such a thing clear, since it's not specifying "any current Visible traits... in the slot", just saying "any current traits"
(I'd say Krin would need to alter that point to make it explicitly clear how Visible (+Vis with hidden) vs no-vis Carry vs Nothing works in the description)

I'm fairly certain i used a g1 scroll on a rikki in the same situation just a week ago.
The descriptions for the scrolls/RTDs are so convoluted x.x

I tried null-ing the slot and then adding the trait in case there was an unsaid no carry rule, still same error message. If possible, could you refund my null philter and give her carry back?

Hiraeth, I just had the exact same problem trying to use a Trait Scroll (Ferrikki - Elemental - G1 - T) on You Can't Stop the Beat--
So it's not just you.

I believe the issue was the Scroll itself. For whatever reason, it was not set properly in the database for the Trait Slot and Trait it was supposed to be holding. There were a couple others that had the same issue. All should be fixed now.
I am wondering if maybe these broken ones came from when they were available in the Diamond Shop a few months ago? I tested the extraction process and it worked just fine, so I wouldn't think that's it. There are also plenty of other RTSs, even Ferrikki Elemental ones, that are also just fine.
Hopefully, the issue should be fixed.
