This is two-parted, and as much a question as a suggestion.

I wish there was the option to delete posts once you were done with them. I kind of hate the feeling of my old posts just drifting off into the pile of old posts and clogging up the system once they've fulfilled their purpose. Mostly I've been trying to reuse the same posts, just editing and re-editing the text to update it to what I need at the time, but that still means I have to make another comment on the end of it to bring it back up to the top. (Maybe as an alternative to this, just editing a post could bring it back to the top all on it's own?)

Also, going into forums like for item trading and such, there are over 800 pages of posts, some of them a decade old. I'm pretty sure none of those things are actually for sale anymore. Just saying. Or even if they were, no one's finding those posts. Why hold onto them all?

(This is separate, but speaking of old out-of-use stuff on here, I also have an old account on here from some time ago that I can no longer access due to having forgotten the password and no longer having access to the email account it's linked to to reset the password. My cousin got me back into this game recently, so I had to make this new account. The old one has the same name as my current one, but with "ubt" in front of it. I'm not sure if it can be delete as well?)

You can ask Krin to delete a thread of yours.
As for your other account, you'll have to contact Krin about that as well.

Seems like a lot of work for them in the long run...

But also, how do I do that? Is posting here not enough?

Maybe, since the feature to delete threads is already implemented, people could be able to do it to their own threads without needing to go through Krin first? Like maybe there's a button on post 1 where, if it's their own post, they can click it and go through a confirmation to delete the thread? It would save a lot of time on both sides

Threads and posts don't get Deleted at all- threads get locked, and the contents of a post can be deleted, but the post remains (you can see this when bots make threads/posts that get reported to Krin.)

Additionally, just because a thread is old doesn't mean it's useless- old item and pet marketplace threads aren't likely to find much use outside of being a record of some transactions, but old news threads, old contest threads, old QA, battle, zone/dungeon, player guides, etc. threads definitely all continue to see use even years later, for one reason or another.

Sometimes a new player asks a question that I know I've answered before and I can zoop back and use the previous thread in which it was asked and either link or copypaste from it.

Sometimes a player decides to get back to working on a guide that got locked and never pinned, so they can pm Krin to unlock it so they can work on it again.

Occasionally for one reason or another I need (or just want) to go back through old news, or old theme design contests, or old trait design contests. (record keeping, adding information to guides, finding out when a certain event happened, reminding yourself what trait designs you've previously submitted/how long ago and so forth)

Maybe there's what you think might be a bug, but someone goes "hey you know, I think I saw a bug thread about something like that once" and you can go check that out.

Perhaps you have a thought about a suggestion you'd like to make, but decide to check and see that it's been made before, and can see what was said on that older thread (and hey, if it's a really old thread, you can still put it forth again in case anything has changed in the intervening time, but you have more knowledge that way- and Krin can go back through them, too, for threads about things he's rebuilding, or might do)

And imagine, if a person could just delete a thread they made and all its contents, they could potentially erase things like a transaction agreement between them and another person, and cheat people out of items or pets!

(old accounts also cannot be deleted, though you probably want to still pm krin about the situation so he's aware of it, for things like ip address reasons)
