Helka (meaning divine woman)-also named "Lady with the Lamp" -wanders through blizzard stricken wastelands looking for weary travellers, giving them shelter, food and a drink. It is said she rides on bull elk and, in some regions, it is said that she has helpers in the form of green eyed foxes ( also known as Grnn Revers)and she herself can transform into a red fox at will. The only way to tell if it's her is if the fox has piercing blue eyes (which is incredibly rare). It is said that if one was to see a green-eyed fox it means that Helka is close and you will have great luck that day, if you see Helka as a fox you will have a life full of joy, if you see her Grnn Revers as human they will tell you of an ancient story that no one else has ever known.
After Helka helps the travellers she guides them on their path where she tells them of secrets that only she knows. This gives them wisdom beyond their years and they will have a longer life than most that is, as when one sees her as a fox, full of joy and prosperity. They will never be able to tell others the secrets they learned and Helka makes their eyes go bright green and after they die they shall join Helka as one of her Grnn Revers, be given a new name and gain infinite knowledge of the world. After 300 years they shall pass and leave to Valhalla in their human form.
In conclusion, Helka is certainly a positive figure in Norwegian mythology and there are no consequences of seeing her or her Grnn Revers.
