Creating Color Palettes

Monochromatic (One Hue, Only Tinted/Shaded)

This design uses one hue (represented by the H in the generator) that, in a true monochromatic design, will not change or will change very little. While these designs are very simple and easy to do, they look very flat and common, taking a lot of work to stand out.

For this example, I am going to be using my Frozen Dusk Luffox.

1. The Goal. I wanted to create a winter design based around the idea of frozen or frosted water at night. I chose 83C1DE as the core color, and 18384A and E0F5FF as my two compliments.






Analogous (Three Hues, next to each other on 12-Spoke color wheel)

Complementary (Two Hues, directly across the wheel)

Split Complementary (Three Hues, a triangle with the the base one step closer to each other)

Triadic (Three Hues, a triangle connecting three hues)
