The test subjects' time for sleeping was over. Scientists watching from some other room turned on the lights, fluorescents that lit the entire area harshly. There was a row of cages stacked along each side of a central walkway, each cage with a person in it. Everything was chrome and steel, oppressively sterile. A loudspeaker crackled on. "Everyone wake up. The next round of tests will begin shortly." Then silence fell.
Sarah's real eye opened as soon as the lights were switched on. The thing about a robotic eye was that it was always on in one way or another, so the light change was obvious, and woke her up from her nightmares. She sat up slowly, running her hands through her tangled hair. It didn't do any good, but it was habit. She exhaled quietly, glancing around before reaching into her pocket and pulling out a small screwdriver. She set about her routine check up of her arm and leg, tightening any loose screws. She needed to get her hands on some oil soon. Her joints were starting to rust again.

Matt sits up with a jolt, a light sleeper ever since he got here, he's woken up by the change in lighting as well. He lets out a rough cawing noise and glances down at the cage below him where he can see Sarah through the wire mesh. he curls his talons into the mesh below him and keeps to the back of his cage, not wanting to attract the eye of any incoming scientists. For now the door at the end stayed closed, but he knew it wouldn't be long before someone came in to take someone away for a while. He glances around at the other nearby cages to see how some of the newcomers are reacting to the announcement, but doesn't seem to interested. If anything he just looks resigned.

When the lights come on with a resonant, intimidating thunder, Damon is shaken awake from a beautiful dream. A wisp of it drains slowly from his mind's eye: her lovely face, her pretty eyes, her mouth as it whispers, "You're sick, you know that?" He opens his eyes reluctantly, sees the veins within the webbing backlit, the unnatural plumbing of limbs he was never meant to have.
The crow-thing caws -- another, earlier, slightly more successful experiment on the development of functional wings. Privately, Damon thinks he himself is only being used as a joke, by one of the crueler of the scientists in charge of their lives.
He stretches out, as far as he can manage in the cramped space of his cell, and curls back up again in his habitual slump in the corner furthest from the Door. What will come next is an exercise in dread, in stringing up tension as taut and as long as possible: who will be led out for more painful and humiliating tests, who will be dragged out for more terrifying surgeries and alterations, who will be left behind to eat their food and thank whoever's out there that today it wasn't them. Damon hopes he'll be one of the ones to be taken out. Participating has always been less terrible for him than listening to others going through it.

Jacket was already awake when the lights came on, and was eating an old roll that he had stuffed in his Jacket a few days ago. It wasn't much but he was hungry, and it was all he had until for the time being. His new fox ear shifted slightly when he heard the announcement about the tests. However there seemed to be no change in mood at least not from a glance. However inside was worried about what would happen wondering if he would survive the experience.

When the lights turned on, and sounds of voices invaded his hearing, Zack was drawn out of the hazed thing he'd started deeming as sleep. His first reaction was to back up, hoping that if he hid far enough, they'd leave him alone. He was slowly learning how to react now, even though he was only stuck there for less than others he had managed to catch glimpses of. He wondered with a shudder how long they'd been here and if they were all doomed to eventually suffer the fate that had befallen earlier ones. Zack did recall seeing some when he was here for the first few days, but they had gone and never came back.
He sniffled softly, trying to curl up as small as he could. He didn't want to be experimented on again.

Dark eyes snapped open as Shanali was jolted from sleep. The bars of the cage and the sounds of the lab filtered into her ears and her brain. She groaned. Was she honestly still in this place? Her escape attempts had been squashed nearly three years ago when she felt as though leaving was hopeless and impossible at this point. She stretched to her fullest possible length (about two feet short for her size) and then reclined against the bars of her cage, pointedly ignoring everyone around her. She didn't want to deal with anyone.
Perhaps teenage angst should have been the least of her problems, but she was only 17 for goodness sake and how was she supposed to be immune to hormones and stuff when she was constantly being experimented on. She smirked to herself as she remembered going through puberty. That had been a laugh. The male lab assistants had been horrified and repulsed while she had been merely confused.
She stretched out again, frowning as her head hit the ceiling. Staring at the blank cage walls before her, she waited for something, anything to happen.
As they say, be careful what you wish for.

(it started lol i didn't even notice )
Max opened her eyes and closed them again. Sure they would come and wake her up but she might get a little more sleep in the mean time and she didn't really care if they hurt her. They would hurt her anyway for doing nothing at all so she might as-well do something she wanted to do. She closed here eyes and started dreaming again only to wake up with a jolt after a few seconds from a nightmare. well that didn't work well Max thought dimly.

The door to the room opened as a cart was wheeled in carrying the organization's latest victim. Laying unconcious on the cart was a young man- in his upper teens, with four metalic arms dragging behind him which were connected to a device that was fuzed to his back. His scruffy black hair hid his face from sight, but his lack of a shirt showed the device and that he had used to work out at least a little. They wheeled him to the cage he was going to stay in and managed to get him into the cell, locking him up and leaving.
The first thing that had registered in the boy's mind as he started to wake up was that he had the most terrifyingly realistic dream ever, invlolving being kidnapped and strapped to some sort of table- unable to move. The second thought was that the floor was cold- which was very much not like his bed. The bed had never been comfortable, but it had always been warm and at least a bit soft and this was nothing like that. Slowly opening his amber colored eyes all he could see at first was his hair- reminding him that he needed to get a haircut soon.
Placing his hands firmly on the floor he realized just that- he was on the floor, not in a bed. Worried, he had started to push himself off the ground only to find that his back was very sore- to the degree that it hurt to move, and that it felt significantly heavier than he remembered- almost as if an extra weight was added to it. Brushing his hair out of his eyes he stared in shock at the two metal appendages laying on the ground beside him, leading to his back. Lifting his head to look at the other side he saw two more matching mechanical arms. With a small groan he laid his head back on the cold floor, staring blankly at the bars of the cage that made his new home... So, it hadn't been a dream after all...
((I get that most of that was in my Character Sheet, but I had stuff I wanted to put in front of it so I reposted it.))

Max looked at the new guy "you should stretch, it'll help with the soreness over time" she should know she had to mettle wings coming out of her back and the pain never really seamed to stop. At least over time she had exersized to the point that it didn't hurt to sit still.....Not that she cared much about pain anymore it was unpleasant but if she thought about how much pain she was in all the time then she would never get a peaceful moment. That was the same reason she tried not to let herself be afraid it would drive her mad overtime she saw the people who never did anything but try to hide in a cage with no hiding places.
