I didn't know about the split item feature and ended up using two small basket of enrichments instead of one.. So the question is my title, how do I split item stacks to avoid this?

you can either hold shift when clicking the stack then click and empty slot to bring up the split stack popup, or click a stack and then use the split stack button which is on the far right of the inventory buttons under the inventory to bring it up
