Can someone explain the difference to me on why some pets in the codex are purple and some are red? Is it a rarity or?

Pets in red have specific traits that are "Restricted", so yeah, they're rarer pets

Usually you'll see it with "Majestic" rarity pets with events like the Summer one, they tend to only spawn with traits from their Restricted traits associated with.

Majestic themes can only ever have traits of their own set.
If disrupted, they will only replace what they have with other traits from their set. Because they're always Exclusive, they cannot be mutated to have non-res traits, and because all of their traits are restricted, RTDs are not usable on them.
The sole exception was some of the Vexxar Elemental rikkis early on, because they were originally listed as Tamed rather than as Exclusive, and thus Mutatable. This was later corrected on all Elemental rikkis (it couldn't take away traits that had already been mutated on, however, so there's a few Elemental lines with non-elemental traits).


But yes, Red name text in the codex means it's a Majestic theme.
