A NightWing's Guide to the Dragons of Pyrrhia

~ SandWings ~

Description: pale gold or white scales the color of the desert sand; poisonous barbed tail, forked black tongues
Abilities: can survive a long time without water, poison enemies with the tips of their tails like scorpions, bury themselves for camouflage in the desert sand, breathe fire,
Queen: Since the death of Queen Oasis, the tribe is split between three rivals for the throne: sisters Burn, Blister, and Blaze.
Alliances: Burn fights alongside SkyWings and MudWings; Blister is allied with the SeaWings; and Blaze has the support of most SandWings as well as an alliance with the IceWings.


~ MudWings ~

Description: thick, armored brown scales, sometimes with amber and gold underscales; large, flat heads with nostrils at the top of the snout.
Abilities: can breathe fire (if warm enough), hold their breath for over an hour, can blend into large mud and puddles, usually very strong
Queen: Queen Moorhen
Alliances: currently allied with Burn and the SkyWings in the great war

~ SkyWings ~

Description: red-gold or orange scales, enormous wings
Abilities: very powerful fighters and fliers, can breathe fire,
Queen: Queen Scarlet
Alliances: currently allied with Burn and the MudWings in the great war


~ SeaWings ~

Description: blue or green or aquamarine scales; webs between their claws; gills on their necks; glow-in-the-dark stripes on their tails/snouts/underbellies
Abilities: can breathe underwater; see in the dark, create huge waves with one splash of their tails; excellent swimmers
Queen: Queen Coral
Alliances: currently allied with Blister in the great war

~ RainWings ~

Description: scales constantly shift colors, usually bright like birds of paradise; prehensile tails,
Abilities: can camouflage their scales to blend into their surroundings, use their prehensile tails for climbing, no known natural weapons
Queen: Queen Dazzling
Alliances: not involved in the great war

~ IceWings ~

Description: silvery scales like the moon or pale blue like ice; ridged claws to grip the ice; forked blue tongues, tails narrow to whip-end
Abilities: can withstand sub-zero temperatures and bright light, exhale a deadly freezing breath
Queen: Queen Glacier
Alliances: currently allied with Blaze and most of the SandWings in the great war

~ NightWings ~

Description: purplish-black scales and scattered silver scales on the underside of their wings, like a night sky full of stars; forked black tongues
Abilities: can breathe fire, disappear into dark shadows, read minds, foretell the future,
Queen: a closely guarded secret
Alliances: to mysterious and powerful to be involved in the great war

Stars glittered in the sky, the only bright and clear thing in the Night Kingdom. Starsight watched them wistfully, wishing she could reach them. She stepped back into the shadows as two NightWings walked across from her, dressed in armor. She guessed that they were going to fight, even though the NightWings weren't involved in the great war. Starsight padded out of the dark, even though the whole kingdom was dark, and walked around. She wrinkled her nose at the musky scent of smoke and...death. Starsight walked back to the cave and curled her tail around herself.

Cassowary opened her eyes, blinking. She stretched and climbed down of the tree she had fallen asleep in, yawning. This was one of the best suntimes in forever, she thought. almost enough to make me forget about... she shuddered and reluctantly headed back toward the Rainwing village. Her father would be worried if she didn't show up before nightfall.

Starsight stepped out of the cave and followed the soldiers, curious on where they were going. She trailed them for a while before they shot up into the air, flying away. Starsight huffed, but kept walking. She stopped when she found a tunnel. What is that? She thought, and stepped into it. She padded farther into the strange tunnel, wondering where it led. Sunlight blinded her as she stepped out. She opened her eyes to see a colorful rainforest. She ducked behind a tree as a dragon, not a NightWing, but a RainWing, walked by her.

Cassowary scuttled up a tree, watching the Nightwing in fear and suspicion. What does she want? She saw a Rainwing, one she didn't know, observe the Nightwing; who was now hiding behind a tree, with curiosity. She glared, getting ready to shoot her venom. Sure, it wasn't the most powerful, but it would be enough to at least scare the Nightwing off, right?

Starsight turned around as the RainWing disappeared. Where did they go? She thought, the realization hit her. Wait---didn't RainWings' scales change color? Maybe that's what happened. Starsight walked away from the tree and sat down by a pool of water, watching her reflection. She reluctantly turned over to where she last saw the RainWing and tilted her head.

(Starsight doesn't know Cassowary's a hybrid lol.)

Cassowary sat in her tree, readying her venom. She opened her mouth, ready to spray, but.. No. Why am I being sympathetic? She's a NIGHTWING. And the Nightwings destroyed my life. She looked at her tattered wings sadly, and got ready to shoot again. But the Nightwing was gone. sloth dung! Where'd she go? Cassowary slipped through the trees, trying to find the Nightwing again.

(Ok, that makes more sense than me inventing some random rainwing who just happens to be in the forest lol)
