here we are.
Thinking that 'lost in the LED-light" or "world.execute(me)" may also work as titles, but I'm pretty happy with this one for now. :>
Because DnD is great and it deserves to be referenced.

The chill of colored plastic seeps into Averry's body from the headset clutched in her hands, hard and unyielding, while she takes in her room for the last time.
Her door is unlocked, so that emergency services can easily make their way inside. Her chargers are coiled together in a neat bundle on the otherwise desk, impossible to miss. Her wall has a single sticky note hanging to it, listing the contact information for her physicians with a note to schedule an appointment.
She takes a deep, steadying breath, and watches as the time turns to X:59. One minute left.
The headset slides on with the ease of familiarity and flickers to life in a slow transition from black to white.
A minute passes, and she selects the game, skipping through the credits and getting ready for character creation. She clicks through like a strike of lightning. Months of theorycrafting and experimenting in similar MMO RPGs have paid off, and she finishes in a little over a minute.
It's only as the customization screen fades that she allows herself to think. I'll find you, she promises.
Then idyllic pastures load in, and she wakes up in character, looking every bit like herself--small and slim with brown eyes and short brown hair that ends just above the shoulder--save for the pair of slender red horns that sprout from her forehead and the green name that flashes above her head: Emerett.
(Figured someone who had an inkling of what was going to happen before heading into game could be fun. =D)

(okay, so, before we start, a few questions:
[Character Select (my end, pick whichever looks the most appealing to you in story/abilities or somethin-)
"Chandy", a spider-human-witch-fire-thing who specializes in insane burst damage but has barely any mobility. A puppet-burst-based character; based quite literally on Chandelure and Rakna-Kadaki.
"Anaemia", a berserker that has a little too much edge, that's an oops on my part. Kind of a bean, though, and her "ultimate" is kinda wack, like, +200% dmg and attack speed or somethin at the cost of all but 1% of her health.
"Gwyn/Toastada", a kind of clone of my Monster Hunter Rise character; a bruiser with a little bit of swag.
"Eventide", a tall as hell cyborg thingie that's good at several things while not sucking too badly. Comes with a sweet mount too.
"Khayo" nope this one's banned
(haven't decided on name): the quite literal self-insert but not, it's weird. this be the killer healer, except its more "life on hit" than "lifesteal"
or you can gimme an idea and I'll spin it up :D
also, y/n on romance (i have to ask this beforehand so that I don't make things weird on accident if you don't like topics of that)

(If you're okay with it, then I'd love to toss some romance in. Ooh, all of them look really fun, so in order of preference, maybe: killer/healer, Chandy/Anaemia, and then Gwyn/Eventide? The first idea is just,,, unique and amazing, I love. The second set sounds like a good set up for a scene where they do DPS while Averry protects them, and the third set sounds like some sweet banter.)

"So, the day's finally come, huh?" Heather muttered to herself, stretching her neck as the game in question downloaded.
20%...
45%...
73%...
99%...
Done.
Throughout the entire process, she took her time with character creation and whatnot. She was rather indecisive, but ended up going with the same look she had in the real world (image possibly supplied below). She took a rather interesting spec; she never had tried a healer before, though something seemed off about the option. It seemed fuzzy and glowy as if something was buggy. She hit the class anyway, just to see what would happen.
(imma be geeky; how are statistics working here? like funny pokeymans or more like WoW and whatnot?)
(lemme know if it works)

(Oh, that image looks awesome! As someone who wears glasses and has long hair, I'm a sucker for the combo haha. As for stats, they could be WoW based, with equipment, but some player allotment too instead of just classes? If it's which stats, WoW still sounds good. ^^)
A lifted hand covers Averry's eyes as she glances around the meadow before her boots launch from firmly planted footholds on the soft soil to a graceful run, and she lets her stride lengthen as she settles into a runner's pace.
Deep breathes in brings the scent of cool, fresh air, and her muscles feel the slow burn of decreasing stamina. It's slow though, aided by high Agility. Her hand falls to the hilt of her blade as she skids to a stop by one of the foragers that's isolated from the rest of the herd.
But when she spies a swirl of glittering blue polygons that quickly coalesce to form the avatar of a dark-haired girl, Averry pauses, sword still sheathed to avoid drawing aggro to the new spawn.

(god i haven't played wow in so long, i'll just resort to 2-3 digit stats for now
also sweeeeeeet it worked)
She got up, rubbing her head. "Agh, that really hurt..." she murmured, making sure her glasses were intact. She got up, dusting some grass and stray leaves out of her hair.
She didn't notice the other person approaching, she was searching for her own spawn-in weapon, which seemed to be a slightly ornate glaive of sorts. Little colorful blobs were spawning around her, as well as some rather interesting square-like particles. What was she? they both were probably wondering.
(Ooh, that formatting is sweet. I also have played WoW never, so... Google help me haha.)
Averry waits, fingers impatiently rapping against the edge of her pommel as the other player woolgathers. The glaive laying beside her goes ignored, and she grows tired of waiting as the other examines the monsters spawned around her.
A swipe engages one of the cheerful light blue blobs in combat, upon which it opens with a burst of water, rounded body shifting into the elegance of a Cervidae. Averry resolutely tanks the first hit to avoid injuring the player playing with her hair behind her before spinning the monster around, away from the newbie.
The next attack is partially mitigated by a sidestep, the creature form's flickering between species with a graceful fluidity as it fights.

The other blobs that weren't struck quite literally hid behind the strange gal, them changing to a shade of green - a color of fear and anxiety. This accidentally engages the newbie in combat as well, revealing how tanky she was - her hit points seem to skyrocket due to the blobs.
She was suddenly in a ready-to-pounce situation, glaive in a single hand. She simply looked defensive, rather than wanting to fight along with her harmed little ink blob.
