Her heart constricted. She was at his side in seconds, trying to shove down the pulsing fear as she scanned his figure and asked some very stupid questions. "Where were you hit? Are you okay?"

He didn't verbally respond to her, eyes brimmed with fear and pain. The pain started slow but then started to really hit him as his mind finally came fully to. He tried to hug his torso as tight as he could to stop the bleeding but it did little good. He shook his head a bit, trying to breath normally despite the struggle.

She looked at how he was holding his torso and swore. "Come on, we have to get out of here before his friends show up." She stood and offered a hand out to Vexin

Cully had staggered to his feet, too. He held on to the back of a chair as he clutched his shoulder; blood twined over his fingers. "Electa, I swear to you--you're making a big mistake," he panted.

His eyes were bright blue, almost as familiar to Electa as her own. A hard pain clenched in her chest as they regarded each other. Siblings, he had said. The man had been more like a father to her; Electa had looked up to Cully more than anyone she'd ever known.

"Yeah, I know I am," she said softly. "I should kill you--the old Cully would have thanked me for it."

Vex delicately took Electa's hand with no hesitation, but was careful not to pull her down as he shakily stood. His teal eyes slowly trained on Cully, pinning right on him. The striking difference of color between a normal blue and the strange teal of his eyes could make a person shiver under his trained gaze. "You are m-making a mistake. The angels are cruel creatures, they do not plan anything for the humans that shall come with good. They feed off of you, they are advantageous. They are not thinking for humans, they are thinking of better for themselves." His voice struggled to come and it was pained but he still spoke best he could, eyes trained like a gun on point at Cully.

The man shook his head. "No. You don't understand. The angels watch out for us."

Electa gently tugged on Vexin's hand. "Come on. Let's go."

For once, Vex glared. He glared right at Cully and his voice changed a little as he spoke again, it got a little dark. "I do understand. I've watched my father. I've watched them." He paused to hug his torso tighter with one arm. "They use you. They blind you." He then gave a weak nod to Electa, head spinning a little due to the pain and bleeding.

She ran for the gates, pulling Vexin along with her, their footsteps thudding on the baking concrete. A dusty black 4x4 truck sat parked outside the gate beside the Chevy; in the back through its tinted windows, they could just make out stacks of boxes. Electa helped Vex climb up onto the passenger's side. She grabbed their things from the Chevy, then flung them in the back and jumped into the driver's seat. A second later, they were roaring off, bouncing and jolting over the rough earth as clouds of dust swirled up behind them.

He leaned heavily on the passenger door, hands positioned specifically to stop most the bleeding. He had his eyes closed and was controlling his breathing rather than screaming and crying in pain like most would do. He kept his cool and let his mind just relax so the pain ebbed a bit. His bracelet had some red splotches on it now.

A few minutes later, the truck stopped. Electa yanked on her shirt. She took out his pocketknife, started a tear in the shirt, then ripped it in half and folded the material into a long strip.

He was a lot more pale than his soft complexion, breathing a bit of a struggle no matter how calm he made it. His lips moved in unspoken words, or a word that is. His brothers name. (I'll have to look back to get used to writing and remembering it right on hand. xD)
