Knuckles was already back in Lava Reef Zone, and had paused to catch his breath. He glanced behind him and realized he had left Gadget and Rouge in his dust trail. He knew they would be fine though; Rouge was a skilled fighter, and Gadget could work miracles with his Wispon and grappling hook. He checked his surroundings one last time before taking off again.
