"O-oh. Okay." Riley says slowly. Maybe he doesn't know what friends mean to you, okay? It doesn't mean anything. Shade doesn't know that you care for your friends, and you hold them close. They mean the world to you. Friends are the best thing anyone has ever been to you. But it does mean one thing, Shade doesn't think anything much about you. There is nothing between us. Calm down.

Once she finishes dismembering one siper she starts on another.

Shade glared at the ground like it had just kicked him in the rear for no reason,and he kicked at it as if for revenge. He said nothing,expression just angry and a hateful growl deep in his throat...but no anger toward Riley again.The hate and anger never was toward the boy.

Rhia suddenly reaches out and catches something. She opens her hand to reveal a huge moth. Bigger than any Elzays seen.

"I'm sorry. Excuse me for asking, but... is friends not a good thing?" Riley asks quietly, hoping that Shade wouldn't turn his anger towards him.

Shade just kicked the floor once more with a fairly loud thump and it was so strong it cracked the floor faintly. "Depends on what you humans consider the title." He grumbled.

"Oh, well, apart from a, uh, boyfriend or girlfriend or a family member, friends are the most important thing in the world. Well... in my opinion. I'd do anything for my friends. Not sure about others... And, well, you've heard how I've failed to help one in her time of need..." Riley quiets, for a moment thinking back to the time his friend had died because of the fateful shooting that had changed Riley's life. For forever.

She stares at it. Then stabs it with a pencil.

Shade seemed confused but put a wing over Riley,seeing from his eyes what he was thinking. "You can't save everyone kid,you can do the best ya' can.And that's more than most can do." He said,voice angry and sharp but words honest. "Better than me.I killed my own family." He mumbled,staring at his hands before growling and clenching them and shaking his head. "I regret nothing." He muttered,but it was clear he did. He'd degutted his own sisters and forced his own father to turning to glass and shattering(Something only to the dragons I've made).

Rhia stares at the wings for a long moment. Then she looks up, walks a few feet, and catches another one. Surely its not that easy to catch a tiny flying insect?
