Viewing the camp through someone's eyes who had never been before, she saw a cluster of low white buildings in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by a chain-link fence with razor-edged wire curling at its top. There were no trees, no ornamentation of any kind. It was sparse and functional, completely featureless.

It was the only home she'd ever really known.

It felt perfectly fine to Vex, it looked like a place that his mom would love to live. Somewhere that she wouldn't think Vex could 'make a mess of things'.

As they neared the gates, she slowed the Chevy almost to a stop and untwisted the wires under its steering wheel. Obediently, the car died.

She stepped out into the baking sun, shading her eyes as he gazed around the camp. Apprehension crawled across her neck. It was much too quiet; there wasnt a single other vehicle in sight. On the gate in front of them, the sign that said PRIVATE PROPERTY, KEEP OUT AT RISK OF PHYSICAL HARM was hanging sideways, dangling loosely from one screw.

He got out after she did, flinching in the heat but not really able to do anything about it. His pale complexion didn't do much to help with the fact of possible sun burn.

Electa had a very bad feeling about this. Walking up to the gate, she saw that the lock that had always hung there was missing; there was only a latch in its place. She lifted it, and the gate pushed open easily at her touch. Inside, the building that they'd used as general storage stood with its metal door open, obviously vacant. The other buildings looked similarly abandoned. Jeez, it was a ghost town in there.

Vex peeked his head in a little over where it would have been over Electa's shoulder if not for his height. His teal eyes looked around, checking details as if he already was wondering what might have happened.

"I'm such an idiot," she growled, slapping her hand against the chain-link fence. It trembled and rattled. "The CIA must have moved the whole operation after they took over. The training camp could be anywhere now." Her tone became reasonable, and she was going into problem-solving mode. "We could try Albuquerque, I guess. I know most of his old hangouts. If he's not with the AKs, hes probably there somewhere."

He winced as she hit the fence, messing with his bracelet again. He guessed that when she said 'after they took over' she meant that something was up and the angels where probably behind it. Half of what he was. Creatures he was related to. Where behind something that was probably creepy.

She was about to say something before she heard a dreadful noise: a vehicle approaching.

Immediately, Electa's expression turned taut, alert. She drew the gun out from the waistband of her jeans. "Get behind the car," she ordered in a low voice.

Being a pretty much obedient, mostly *COUGH*, child he did as told and tried to be as small as possible despite his shaking.
