The grass leads you to a large open area, but it's been completely torched. A few people wander around, scavenging for items.

Kate rethinks her strategy and decides to see if she can lure the creature on to land by dipping the spear in the water and not shining the torch so close and using her other senses to feel the monsters in the room if they are on land at least the torch will be of use.

You try, and it sort of works. The monsters are definitely swimming closer to land. However, they're very determined to protect whatever lies in the water.

Kate tries something else and dips the spear in the water to get the monster to jump and quickly tries to touch the flame to the beast before it returns to the water

The creatures hisses in pain, and lashes out. They seem to react to attacks.
