"You're lucky you lasted as long as you did. Battlebuddies are important."

He rolled his eyes. "Yeah, sure. But not in fantasy dream simulations. Most of my jobs were solo anyways. Just how I like it."

"Well, too bad. I'm coming with you if you're leaving."

"If you want to go, go ahead. I won't stop you. If it's really what you want, then go ahead." She carefully took off the net. "I'll miss you."

"You sure you can live with that, hunter? Kinda seem like a goody-two-shoes to me and there's a good chance I won't even be able to get near Umbra again defecting once already. If they don't just kill us outright, you'd be working for the army. Nevermind the irony of the Protectors putting a bounty on your head too for that."
Scias stood up and brushed himself off as his vision righted itself.

"Don't. It'll just hurt you."
He said sternly to Corasi.

"And there's that poor judgement again."

"I can take him. And if not, then fine, I can take all of you easily.
Not like I'm going to some mountain retreat and waiting for the war to pass, I'm going to someplace I can put my skills to use. And at this rate, I want to be on the winning side of history."

Saras
"Are you saying humanity is doomed?"
(Because splitting the party always works...)

Basil had listened in on all this with one arm crossed and the other over her mouth. She had her brows furrowed. She was piecing together as much about each person as she could throughout the conversation.
She gathered from the conversation that Saras is level headed and hopeful, and Scias is a jerk who lacks logic and moral. She didn't like where this was going, and she especially didn't like that anyone could be listening in at that moment.

She wouldn't let herself think humanity is doomed. If it was, she would have just taken herself out. There is clearly still hope, but it was fading.
She had stashed a blade in her bag in case she would need to defend herself. She didn't know how to use it, and didn't want to use it, but it was something. She was beginning to question the level of security she had in this group. She didn't want to seem untrustworthy or threatening, but she wanted to be defended. She pulled her bag off of her back and put her hand in until she felt the knife. she held onto it and kept her head down, listening on to the conversation. It wasn't Cass or even Hex she was worried about, It was Scias.
