Electa turned the can over in her hands, watching it glint in the moonlight. In that moment she hadn't cared whether he as a threat to the angels or about anything at all apart from saving him. The thought of him being hurt...she swallowed hard. When had the fact that Vexin was half-angel stopped mattering to her? She didn't know. Maybe it was the reading he gave to the waitress in the diner, or their time in the motel room, or just being on the road with him. But at some point over the last few days, its importance had melted away. The idea that Vexin was in any real way like the invading parasites was laughable to her now. His angel aspects were simply a part of who he was, and though Electa didn't like what had happened to bring Vexin into being, she was still very glad that it had. She didn't really care what he was, so long as he existed.

If only he knew that, he still could remember in full detail of that first time they'd met. All of a sudden Electa coming into the bathroom, gun so steadily pointed right at him with no care for him as a person. He put his head in his hands, keeping his pills in a fist for now. He had learned to dislike what he was thanks to Electa, no longer able to really ignore it anymore. He was half angel, half monster. He stared down, feeling tears well up. She mattered to him enough to where the thought that she thought of him anything like the angels ... it ripped his heart out, his sweet gummy heart, and squished it.

Well, she could hardly imagine being without him anymore.
The thought stunned her; she felt her hands grow cold. What the heck was going on? Being attracted to Vexin was one thing, but this was....Electa's thoughts trailed off, lost in confusion. It was just how he looked; it was Vexin himself, everything about him. She hadn't had this depth of feeling toward anyone since Jake had died. And she didn't want to be having it, not ever again. It wasn't worth it; being close to people just meant pain, eventually. For the second time that day, an image of her brother's death flashed through her mind, and her jaw tightened.

And surprisingly Vex couldn't think of a world without the girl. But he did think it would have been better in some ways. He put a hand to the shoulder that had been shot and thought. 'She got me shot ... but she fixed it. Because she needs me against the angels, I don't matter to her. I haven't to anyone but my brother, and I certainly don't matter to her as a person.' Now he shut his eyes tightly, trying not to cry. He didn't understand why, but that thought that he didn't matter to her ... it hurt a lot.

In the distance, a long, wavering howl sounded, and Electa scuffed her shoe across the sandy soil, running her hand through her hair, and was surprised to find no more glass shards. He had done a good job...

He yelped softly at the howl, not used to those type of sounds. More so yelling and screaming next door when you're trying to sleep and your moms drunk and being an idiot.

He looked to her as he rubbed one eye, confusion clear through the window. "Oh, one of those smaller wolf like dogs?"

She nodded. "Yeah. They're not just in movies, you know."

He peaked his head out the window like a little kitty. "I know, I've read of them. I didn't really know they are in movies."
