"Nice? Peh. I usually kill idiots like you for a living. Only the strong survive in this world. You waste all your time helping people and you just paint a target on your back."

Scias stopped behind her, raising his rifle and firing an electric round onto an Exterminator scout who had been drawing the bead of his rifle on Corasi. He chuckled slightly and dropped the smoking barrel of his weapon back towards the ground.

"Guess that makes two times today I've saved your tail, really must be going soft.. Don't let me slow your monkey brain down though, there's probably people out there just begging you to save them, hero."

"I'm not a hero! Don't you realize that?! I'll never be anything than a dumb FREAKING half-breed! Why do you think I have no friends? Because I'm just a half-breed. I don't want anything to happen to anyone else! While I cowered in the lab you found me in my parents were killed! I was hiding from the world, while I could've saved the people that meant the most to me!" Her face grew redder by the moment, and the anger in her voice was not mistakable. She had had a lot of emotions bottled up since everything in her life fell apart.

"Oh, just save the tears already. If you want to almost get shot again, by all means, keep yelling. But standing around here telling me your sob stories isn't doing you any favors. Newsflash, kiddo, doubt you're the only apechild out there with dead friends and parents. Sure won't be the last either, not til the war's over anyways."
His voice was cold and unaffected, but he still seemed to tense slightly at her anger, as if it were knives to him.

"You realize that I know that right? But when you lose the only people in your life who actually cared about you, I'm sure you would be mad too." She ran over to the little robot that followed her out of the lab and put him in her bag. "I didn't think you would understand. No one does. Everyone can be fine and ignorant, and won't realize what's going on beneath the surface. Do you want to really know why I joke? It's because I can't deal with losing my entire life to this war. It's to cope. But no one cares. Save it. Whatever you're about to say, save it. I don't want to hear it."

"Already have. Not worth the energy. It hurts, but not all the pain and anger in the world brings the dead back." Scias started forward, not seeming to care anymore for her tirade. Sitting duck.
"How many are left here?"

"Just a few civilians and the defense army, but the army should stay here." She said with a sigh. "I'm sorry, I just haven't been really able to talk much since the incident. I really haven't talked at all." My aunt was right, I really don't know how to control my emotions when I need to. "I think I'll start going. Talking to a protector's bad for business, right?" She smiled and started to run in the forest. Her hair trailing behind her.

What? Did she really expect him to follow her?

He grimaced when he found himself actually doing it.
But at least he wasn't sprinting. She might have suckered him this far, but he definitely wasn't going to make a bigger idiot out if himself. Maybe teaming with her for a while would dig up some good information on the Protectors.. He could definitely use that, but at the risk of her getting-..
He huffed a few sparks through his teeth. No, not again. He wasn't going to lose another friend to them. Not after last time.
If he just couldn't stop himself from protecting her, so be it, but she better not try to sweet talk him into anything else.
When it came down to it, turning his back on the Exterminators was just plain suicide. She'd just have to try not to get stuck in the cross hairs again.

"Well, if you're planning on just laying low, you got the time now." He called behind her.

"Interesting, don't know how you thought that was an invitation to follow me." There was a weird playfulness in her voice. Her tail flicked. She turned and called back. "I've laid low for this long. I can run well, I'll be fine. The exterminators didn't even know I existed 'til you came along. But I'm sure you didn't say anything about me, Scias."

"Why would I tell them anything? You're not even close to a threat. You don't even look like you have a gun on you. It wouldn't be fun to kill you at all.
If another Exterminator rose a rifle on you again without me being around, you'd probably start crying and screaming again or something. To them you're just another dead body that's gotta find a hole in the ground somewhere. You can't outrun a bullet to the face." He shrugged nonchalantly.
"I mean, I can go and let you go crawl back into a grave, but you want my help or not?"

"Yes, I need your help... Especially with what happened a few weeks ago..." She touched her neck, trying to indicate something. There was a sort of button on it which was glowing. "Some protectors came to my house and gave me this, they said it would help me with battling and I trusted them. I shouldn't have. This thing controls my consciousness, at a push of a button I could lie on the floor. It's even strong enough to kill me. This is why I fell unconscious in the lab. I'm sorry I didn't tell you before."
